2025 Hungarian MotoGP Picks: Will Anyone Catch Marc Marquez This Weekend?

  • What: Hungarian Grand Prix
  • Date: Friday, August 22-24, 2025
  • Location: Balaton Park
  • Where:Balatonfőkajár, Hungary

MotoGP returns to Hungary after 33 years, with riders taking on the new Balaton Park Circuit, where Ducati may have an edge from an unofficial test earlier this month.

Riders enter this unfamiliar, mostly left-handed 16-turn track with no prior data or experience, so they must quickly adapt and rely on their skill.

Balaton Park’s MotoGP debut excites fans and creates fresh merchandise and sponsorship opportunities in the busy Lake Balaton region.

Marc Marquez leads with 418 points, while his younger brother Alex trails by nearly 120 points. Marc extended his dominance by winning his sixth consecutive race at last week’s MotoGP event in Austria.

Marc Márquez

In his second year on a Ducati, Marquez has been a powerhouse in 2025, claiming nine wins, one second-place finish, and one third-place finish.

He’s reached the podium in all but two races this season, with only a 12th-place in Spain and a DNF at the Grand Prix of the Americas breaking his streak.

Marquez enters his first race in Hungary on a hot streak, having won the last six MotoGP events. Márquez is the odds-on favorite for a reason.

He’s been on an incredible run and hasn’t been stopped. -350 is an expensive price for Marc Marquez, so I’d pass on this one.

Francesco Bagnaia

Two-time MotoGP world champion and runner-up in 2021 and 2024, Francesco Bagnaia enters Budapest ranked third in the 2025 standings, 55 points behind second-place Alex Marquez.

Bagnaia enjoyed a stellar 2024, winning 11 races—including the final three of the season—but ultimately finished 10 points behind Jorge Martin.

Carrying that momentum into 2025, he started with a win and top-four finishes in his first five races. However, a slip to 16th in France and a retirement at the British GP disrupted his run.

Since then, he’s recorded three third-place finishes, two fourths, and an eighth in his latest outing in Austria, where he had previously won three straight times.

For the first time in 68 rounds, Bagnaia comes to Budapest after finishing off the podium.

Alex Márquez

The struggles continue for the younger Marquez in Austria, where he finished a disappointing 10th. Over his last six races, he’s managed three runner-up finishes but has also endured two early retirements.

Marquez has just one win this year, but his remarkable consistency is evident with six second-place finishes. I’d have to pass on the younger Marquez at this price.

Marco Bezzecchi

Marco Bezzecchi is considered Marc Marquez’s main challenger at the new Balaton Park circuit. Since his victory at the British GP, Bezzecchi has been in impressive form, regularly contending with Marquez and earning podium finishes.

Although Aprilia has typically faced difficulties, its promising performance in Austria positions Bezzecchi as a strong candidate to halt Marquez’s winning run in Hungary.

Bezzecchi is a terrific value at +1200 odds. I could absolutely see him challenge Marquez and push him to the brink.
