This is officially round 9 in the MotoGP season — a season that’s shaping up to be a four-rider race for the world champion. Therefore, it makes sense to begin our preview of the upcoming Catalan GP with a look at each one of those riders.
The world title standings are reflective of the top riders. Sitting in first and second are Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaró, respectively. The former has 122 points and the latter has 114 — so it’s a deadly close battle between the two for the top spot. Each has one win on the season so far. Quartararo, of course, is seeking to repeat as champion, a feat last accomplished by Marc Marquez.
Elsewhere in the title hunt are a pair of multi-win Italians. With 94 points and in third stands Enea Bastianini, who leads the grid with three outright wins. Then there’s Francesco Bagnaia with two wins and 82 points. Bagnaia won the most recent Italian GP in his backyard so momentum is plenty for the rider.
The only other rider to win a race this season outside of the aforementioned bunch is Miguel Oliveira. Though, he was a real flash in the pan as he has zero podium finishes outside that victory. But it’s worth noting that Oliviera did win this race a year ago.

The Spaniard is seemingly always in the hunt for first place, which means something in this sport. He’s worth a secondary wager after Bagnaia, especially at his somewhat steep +450 odds.

If you want to watch the Catalan GP this Sunday, then you have a few options. On TV, it will be broadcast on CNBC at 4 pm EST — however, that’s via tape delay.
