We are now four races into the 2022 MotoGP season. That’s roughly one-fifth of the season already down (17 races remain). What have we learned? Well, a lot. Certainly enough to make updated bets to win the 2022 MotoGP World Championship. Keep reading for expert betting advice to tackle the remainder of the racing season!

2022 MotoGP Season Recap (So Far)
Before we get into what could happen the rest of the season, let’s cover what has happened with a recap of 2022 MotoGP events. So far, two riders have been a step above the rest — Enea Bastianini and Alex Rins. The riders are ranked one and two, respectively, in the standings (separated by a mere five points). Bastianini leads the way thanks to two outright victories (Qatar and Americas), whereas Rins has no wins but two podium finishes (and no bad results).
Other race winners this year outside Bastianini are Aleix Espargaró (Argentina) and Miguel Oliveira (Indonesia). Ultimately, this level of parity across the sport is what makes it so special as opposed to other motorsports with the same names on the podium (cough Formula 1 cough). But it also makes it hard to bet on a race-to-race basis since unpredictability is the norm.
The next race is the Grand Prix of Portugal, which is slated for April 24. Let’s quickly mark some looming race dates you’ll want to know ahead of time for MotoGP:
- May 29 — Italy Grand Prix
- June 19 — German Grand Prix
- August 7 — British Grand Prix
- November 6 — Valencia’s Grand Prix (season finale)
Betting Picks To Win 2022 MotoGP Championship
As we eluded to before, this sport isn’t exactly predictable — not now, not for the rest of the season. Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t make money off betting the sport. You most certainly can, however, it’s going to come out of betting multiple ways. MotoGP isn’t the sport when you can repeat bets on the same driver over and over again and expect to be in the green.
Enea Bastianini
This is only Bastianini’s second year at the MotoGP level so we can understand why some bettors aren’t “buying his hype” despite two outright victories to start off the season. We get that, but our rationale is different: if Bastianini is this good already, just imagine how good he’ll be as the season progresses and he gets more comfortable? We mean, the Italian is only 24 years old. Natural improvement should be expected from now till the end of the season.
That’s why we’re backing Bastianini with a bet of our own. That, plus the Ducati bike he rides is widely considered to be the fastest in the whole grid. That certainly helps Bastianini’s championship cause too!
Marc Marquez
Before the season began, Marquez was the betting favorite at the top online sportsbooks. But in classic Marquez fashion, he’s had his ups and downs up to this point. The lows include a scary crash in Indonesia (which sidelined him for the following Argentina GP) but the highs include going from last to sixth (at the recent America GP).
It’s safe to say Marquez is the ultimate boom-or-bust betting pick in the whole field — there’s really no in-between with him. As of right now, we’re throwing a light bet his way in case he goes boom, which he’s certainly capable of doing (he’s an all-time great, after all). We’d temper the size of our bet, but he’s worth a flyer bet nonetheless.
Jack Miller
As we said before, we’re big on the Ducati bike. Therefore, we’re going to “spread the wealth” on that team. On top of our Bastianini wager, we’re also looking at his teammate, Jack Miller. The 27-year-old Australian has been a model of consistency the past few years — finishing 8th, 7th, and 4th overall the last three seasons. Miller has improved his overall standing each of his eight years in MotoGP (minus one season) and if that trajectory continues in 2022, a world title isn’t out of the question.
