2021 Valencian GP Preview
Before we dive into our free betting pick, it would suit us to preview the 2021 Valencia GP. It’s the 18th and final race of the season and unfortunately, very little is at stake. That’s because Quartararo has already sealed the riders’ world championship.
In fact, the title has been a wrap for weeks now. Toward the end of October, Quartarto clinched his first-ever championship at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Back then, the only competitor with a mathematical chance at overtaking Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia, was leading the race but crashed out with five laps to go and got a DNF. It’s been wire-to-wire domination this season from Quartararo, who has five wins and a 40-point advantage in the standings.
For what it’s worth, the team constructor’s title is still up for grabs. Barely. Ducati has a commanding lead over Yamaha, up by 34 points. It would take the perfect storm for the two teams to flip positions, though. Essentially, both Ducati riders (Bagnaia and Jack Miller) would need to fail to score, while Yamaha’s Quartararo and injured teammate Franco Morbidelli would need strong finishes.
We only entertain the idea of a “flippening” because Morbidelli actually won the 2020 event here. And Yamaha, in general, has quite the track record at this event. Since 2010, a Yamaha rider has taken first place on five different occasions (most of any single team). So hey, Yamaha stealing another title is at least plausible.

Betting Pick To Win Valencian GP
Let’s begin with who is NOT our betting pick to win the Valencian GP — and that’s the world title-holder, Quartararo. He’s taken his “foot off the gas pedal” as of late, likely because he was racing “not to lose.” The Frenchman’s last first-place finish was at the end of August during the British Grand Prix. In the five races since then, here’s where Quartararo has placed: eighth, second, second (again), fourth, and a DNF last time out in Algarve. That’s not a recent track record that evokes betting confidence from us at MyTopSportsbooks.
In Quartararo’s “absence” during that stretch, two riders have picked up the winning slack — Marc Marquez and the aforementioned Bagnaia. Marquez has two wins (along with one runner-up and two fourth-place finishes), while Bagnaia has earned three and would’ve likely been four if not for the accident in Emilia Romagna.
Unfortunately, Marquez will NOT be competing in Valencia, an event he’s won twice before. He’s said to be suffering from vision problems due to an off-road incident a few weeks ago. It’s a shame too because Marquez was starting to look like the driver of old — ya know, the one that owns six MotoGP world titles. That leaves the door wide open for Bagnaia to continue his winning ways.
Our money is going to Bagnaia, no questions asked. On top of his victory last time out at Algarve, he also took the pole position and fastest lap. The clean sweep shows how red-hot he currently is. And as we mentioned before, technically, he and his Ducati teammate are still fighting for the constructor’s championship. We’re of the belief Bagnaia will indeed deliver that win to his team, plus any bettors that ride alongside him.
