MotoGP Betting Predictions For Misano

Due to COVID, MotoGP is racing at the Misano World Circuit in Italy for a second time this season — heck, the second time in about a month’s time. We preview the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in this article, plus offer our MotoGP betting predictions for Misano (the second time).

Betting odds are not widely available online, certainly not at the top bookmakers we monitor. Then again, the event isn’t until October 24 so we expect that to change in the coming days. Once released, expect all the usual suspects to be favored to win outright.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Preview

This is the third-to-last MotoGP race of the season. It’s also the first event in which Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo can clinch the world championship. At the moment, he has a 52-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati (254-202).

Here’s the exact scenario that delivers Quartararo his first-ever drivers title: leave Italy with at least a 50-point margin in the standings. A win would clinch it, but so would a bad performance from Bagnaia.

Bagnaia is the only driver with a mathematical chance of overtaking him. And for what it’s worth, Bagnaia did win at this track in the first go-round (while Quartararo finished right behind in second). If Quartararo doesn’t clinch at Misano, his next two chances would be at the Algarve Grand Prix and Valencia Grand Prix.

MotoGP Betting Pick To Win Misano

If you can only make one bet for the looming event, let it be this next driver. We believe it’s the best “bang for your buck” per se:

Francesco Bagnaia

In the lead-up to this event, Bagnaia dropped an interesting line while being interviewed. Here it is, word for word: “I’m more relaxed than I think Fabio is because he has to think about the championship, he has to think about being as competitive as possible. I’m not saying that Fabio is not relaxed, but I think I’m calmer.”

We wouldn’t say Quartararo is lacking calmness, but he’s definitely been less aggressive down the stretch. This was apparent at the Grand Prix of Americas which just passed. He finished second to Marc Marquez and you could sense he was completely content with that finish.

While Quartaro plays not to lose — which isn’t wrong by any means — that’ll leave the door open for the more desperate Bagnaia to seize control. We think he wins and holds off a championship celebration for Quartaro ‘til the following race.

Marc Marquez

If you have extra betting dollars to go around, Marquez is a perfect “Plan B” wager. That’s because Marquez is almost back to old form — a form that’s one of the greatest this sport has ever seen.

Here is where Marquez has finished in his prior three races: second, fourth, and first. That fourth-place finish was at Misano, too. Marquez is streaking hot and that’s always a good predicament to align yourself when making bets.

Personally, we’re making two separate bets — one on Bagnaia to win outright and another on Marquez. Both riders should be well above +200 odds so you can still make out a profit if either one wins. Both are the two most streaky drivers of the past month or so, therefore, we’re riding the trend once again here.

How To Watch The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

In the United States, NBC has the exclusive television rights for MotoGP. That means any and every single race is aired on the network.

The race itself will be run on Sunday, October 24. Per usual, the start time is bright and early for Americans. The race starts at 8 am EST sharp, but is aired on tape delay on NBC.

If Quartararo doesn’t win the championship that day, his next two (and final) opportunities are as follows:

  • November 4 — Algarve Grand Prix in Portugal
  • November 11 — Valencia Grand Prix in Spain
