You may have noticed one name missing from the above table, and that’s Marc Marquez. Honda has announced Marquez is out of this race, stemming from the scary incident at the previous Indonesian Grand Prix. He crashed during warm-ups, suffering a concussion and eventually, another case of diplopia, which has his vision “seeing double.” Marquez has said the injury isn’t as bad as last year, but it’s still not a good sign. We might not be seeing Marquez on the grid even beyond Argentina.

2022 Argentina Grand Prix Preview

The last time Argentina’s Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo held a MotoGP race was in 2019 — and as you may have guessed, a lot has changed since then. Only eight drivers expected to compete on Sunday have raced at this track before, and the majority did so with completely-different bikes. Therefore, as we preview the 2022 Argentina Grand Prix, as a whole, expect the unexpected.

That’s already been the motto of the 2022 season which is only two races old. Each of the two previous events ended with new riders on the podium. It’s been hard to find any consistency on the grid so far, sans KTM Red Bull racing. The team is off to a dazzling start with two riders — Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira — in the top-5 for the world title hunt. With that showing, they lead the Constructors’ championship with a two-point lead over Ducati.

Last time out in Indonesia, the aforementioned Oliveira won outright, edging out reigning world champion, Fabio Quartararo, by two seconds at the finish line. The track that day was rain-soaked, causing an hour-long delay to the start time, which eventually became nighttime. Under the lights, Oliveira quite literally “weathered the storm” to win despite starting in P7.

Betting Picks To Win 2022 Argentinian Grand Prix

Given what we’ve told you already about the next race — the injuries, the lack of experience, and the general unpredictability of the 2022 MotoGP season — you’d have to be crazy to NOT make multiple betting picks to win the 2022 Argentinian Grand Prix. Plus, did you see the current betting odds we listed up top? They’re long across the board. Therefore, you have “breathing room” to bet multiple ways and not kill your profit if one hits successfully. With that said, we think the two names below should be stop your betting list:

Miguel Oliveira

We can’t understate how impressed we were with Oliveira’s win in Indonesia. He was in a comfortable lead most of the second half and even in the final lap, there was little doubt he was claiming the victory barring a freak accident. That performance creates momentum that could carry over in Termas.

And speaking of which, Oliviera is one of the few riders that’s not only competed at this track at the highest level before, but he did so with the same factory too. He has experience very few else on the grid possess going into Sunday’s battle. Back in 2019, Oliviera finished 11th overall at the track with his KTM bike. The 27-year-old has steadily improved in the three years since, which gives us confidence he’ll compete for a title come race-time. We’re backing him with a bet here!

Jack Miller

We’re sticking to the same betting philosophy with our second betting pick — and that’s the experienced Ducati driver, Miller. The first time he raced here was in 2015, which makes him one the most grizzled riders out of the whole grid. Two of his races at this track since then have come with Ducati. The most notable time out was in 2018 when Miller won the pole position here (though, would finish “only” in fourth).

Not only does the Australian have that going for him, but he’s also coming off a good performance in Indonesia of his own. Miller placed fourth overall, which was slightly six seconds off Oliviera. It was the first real look at Miller in 2022 since he had a DNF in the season-opener in Qatar. With three wins all-time at this level, we’re of the belief Miller could threaten for four come Sunday.
