Can you believe it’s the final race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series this weekend? The season has flown by, and with so much still to drive for, here we bring you our free Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR betting picks.
The race this weekend takes place at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday evening, as opposed to the usual running day of a Sunday. The Green Flag is at 7 pm ET.
- What; Coke Zero Sugar 400
- Where; Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida
- When; Saturday, August 27th, 2022
- Green Flag; 7 pm ET
- Race Distance; 400 Miles
- Laps; 160
This has been the final last regular season race since 2020, and the race has been on the NASCAR roster since 1959. It’s also the second outing of the season at this circuit, following the Daytona 500, held on the opening weekend of the season.
Last season this race was won by Ryan Blaney of Team Penske. His teammate, Joey Logano led for the most laps (37), and Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson was in Pole Position.
What Happened Last Weekend?
Finally, yes, finally, there was a return to the top of the podium for Kyle Larson. The Hendrick Motorsports driver hadn’t won since race 2 of the season, the WISE Power 400, back in February.

His win last Sunday in the Go Bowling At The Glen was well overdue. And it was a hugely timely and significant win for the defending champion.
For the past few months, Larson’s teammate Chase Elliott has been getting the better of the 2021 champion. So a return to form this close to the end-of-season playoffs couldn’t have come at a much better time for Larson.
For the record, championship leader Chase Elliott came fourth at the Watkins Glen International circuit in New York State. Second place went to A. J. Allmendinger, with Joey Logano finishing third.
Betting To Win 2022 NASCAR Driver’s Championship
The win for Larson has had little impact on the betting to win the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. The favorite to win the 2022 title has been Chase Elliott for some weeks now, and Elliott is still clear at odds of +250 with the best NASCAR betting sites.
Behind Elliott is Ross Chastain (+700) and then 2021 champion Kyle Larson (+750). If nothing else, Larson is now far better value than he was for the majority of the season. The star driver for the 2021 campaign, Larson, spent most of this season as the betting favorite at around +400.
It’s only since early July that we’ve seen the betting flip around and Elliott becoming the new outright favorite. And despite Larson winning last weekend, the odds haven’t really shifted.
Who is the betting Favourite to Win the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400?
It’s the championship leader Chase Elliott who is the favorite to win at Daytona this weekend. Elliott leads what looks to be a wide-open field at odds of +1000 with the best online sportsbooks.
He is followed by teammate Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and last year’s winner Ryan Blaney, who are all at +1200.

Kyle Larson v Chase Elliott
Although Kyle Larson defeated his Hendrick Motorsports teammate last Sunday, it wasn’t without incident. Larson commented on his winning maneuver after the race and is quoted as saying he was not proud of it (the move).
“I think if I was in his shoes, I would understand the risk that I‘m taking, taking the left lane also. I‘m not proud of it, but I did what I felt like I had to do to get the win.‘‘ Quote from Kyle Larson.
So, will this lead to confrontation between the two drivers this weekend and throughout the playoffs? Who knows.
The admission from Larson that he wasn’t proud of the move certainly suggests that he wouldn’t be surprised if Elliott was annoyed about it. So with this in mind, we can safely assume that Elliott won’t be cautious if in a similar position this weekend.
But Larson showed his fighting instincts at The Glen. He showed why he is the champion, and the truth is, he was the more ruthless driver.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Betting Picks
This looks to be a wide-open race this Saturday. Therefore I’m hedging my bets between a few drivers in this weekend’s NASCAR picks….. and with betting odds starting at +1000, we have plenty of chances to profit.
I’m going for the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers to be at it again. Kyle Larson will be looking to build on last weekend’s win, and Chase Elliott will be looking for revenge. At odds of +1000 on Chase Elliott and +1200 on Kyle Larson, I’m happy to make both my picks.
I also think a wager on Ryan Blaney could be worthwhile. Last year’s winner here is yet to register a win this season. And it would be just typical to see him go and do that this weekend.
Finally, at odds of +1800, why not Martin Truex Jr? Like Blaney, a win confirms his place in the playoffs, so I think Martin Truex Jr is also worth a small punt (make sure it’s small, given his poor form this season).
