NASCAR Kansas Race Preview

It’s a rare short week for NASCAR drivers and teams this weekend. That’s probably where we should start our preview of the NASCAR Kansas race. This past race actually went down Monday, not Sunday per usual. Due to heavy rain, the Wuir 400 was postponed a day. Weirdly enough, a postponement of some kind has plagued this event five of the last six times now (Spring only, not Fall).

Anyway, once the competition finally got off, it was won by Martin Truex Jr. The veteran had been winless in 54 straight races before ending the streak. Truex became the eighth driver to win a race in the Cup Series’ first 11 races. That also means only seven more playoff spots are up for grabs with most of the season still ahead. After Truex Jr., the top five was rounded out by (in order) Ross Chastain, Ryan Blaney (he lead the most laps), William Byron, and Denny Hamlin.

Chastain remains number-one in the Cup Series standings, though. He hasn’t won a race yet but four top-5’s have him just barely ahead of Cody Bell. Chastain, though, caused another crash at Dover. This time, his aggressive driving came at the behest of Brennan Poole and Kyle Larson, who crashed out. He’s slowly becoming public enemy number-one among drivers with these maneuvers.

Turning our attention to the AdventHealth 400, the odds are actually quite short for a few drivers. The current odds to win in Kansas are listed below, per top betting sites for NASCAR. As you can see, six are well under +1000 with the betting favorite being as low as +500 to win. Here’s a look at the top lines:

This weekend’s Kansas Speedway will host the first of two events this season. The 1.5-mile track is one of many driver’s under-the-radar favorite places to drive at. Half of the previous 18 drivers that have won here are active in the race. We mention that because it’ll be an important variable in our betting picks, which we’ll outline underneath.

Top Bets To Win NASCAR AdventHealth 400

Even with shorter odds than usual for Kansas, we’re not going away from our usual strategy of betting on multiple cars. Among the entire field, there’s three NASCAR drivers were confident in betting on winning the AdventHealth 400. Those three are as follows:

Kyle Larson

Alright, no need to overthink this bet β€” Larson is likely the best all-around driver in the sport (with two wins this year already). Period. That means he’s always worth a look to win. Sure, he’s had a pair of rough outings in a row (32nd and 33rd), but the Kansas Speedway is a track he’s become well accustomed to. Larson won it in 2021 then went runner-up and eighth here in 2022. We’re betting on a big rebound from Larson in this one.

Martin Truex Jr.

Truex gets our money here, and that’s not because he’s fresh off a win. No, he’s just as consistent as they come at this track. Since 2017, he’s had a Top-10 finish in all but one Kansas start. During that stretch, Truex also owns two first-place finishes. So at the very least, you should have money on the veteran to finish top-5 or top-10. We’ll go one step further and take his line to win straight up.

Chase Elliott

Elliot to is quite the betting bargain at +1200. Honestly, oddsmakers are selling him short. Over his career, Elliott has racked up eight top-10s and six top-5s in Kansas. Sure, only one of those ended up in taking the checkered flag, but you can almost guarantee Elliott will be in the fold late in Kansas. He’s a perfect mid-value bet to make here.
