NASCAR Verizon 200 at the Brickyard; Picks, Preview and Betting

Chase Elliott continued his domination of the NASCAR Cup Series with another win last Sunday, and this weekend he heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the favorite. Will he win? Check out our Verizon 200 at the Brickyard NASCAR betting picks to find out!

The form guy in the NASCAR Cup Series is Chase Elliott. Granted he did need a slice of luck at Pocono last Sunday, but regardless of how he won, the win was his fourth of the season and his second in three races.

Pocono was also the fourth race in succession that Elliott has finished inside the top 2, and the win has also seen him open up a 105 points gap over Ross Chastain at the top of the NASCAR Cup Series driver’s championship.

2022 NASCAR Cup Series Winner Betting

This brings us nicely to the latest betting to win the 2022 Cup Series. After a dominant few weeks, Chase Elliott is now the overwhelming favorite to win his second championship in three years.

In the latest betting to win the 2022 Cup Series, Elliott is the +400 favorite with the best NASCAR betting sites. There is now clear daylight between Elliott and the second favorite Kyle Larson who is +700, also the same price as Ross Chastain.

Further down the betting, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are both +800, with William Byron, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney all at +1000.

Until recently, the defending champion Kyle Larson was the runaway favorite. But a combination of poor form from Larson, excellent driving from Elliott, and a wide-open season this year have seen the odds turn against Larson. I wouldn’t write the 2021 champion off so quickly myself though!

What Happened At Pocono Last Week?

Well, where do you start? Let’s keep this brief. The race was originally won by Denny Hamlin, with Kyle Busch in second place. But after the race, both Hamlin and Busch were disqualified for failing post-race inspections.

This meant that third place Chase Elliott got promoted to first, with Tyler Reddick elevated into second, and Daniel Suarez moved into the final place on the podium. It was pandemonium, but ultimately, Chase Elliott had his fourth win of the season, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Who is the Favorite to win the Verizon 200

After his recent run of podium finishes including two wins, it’s no surprise that the best online sportsbooks make Chase Elliott the +450 betting favorite to win the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard. After Elliott comes the usual suspects, with Kyle Larson at +675, and Ross Chastain at +700.

The in-form Tyler Reddick is at +1050, with Chastain’s teammate, Daniel Suarez at +1100. Last weekend’s disqualified drivers, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin are +1600 and +2000, respectively.

Verizon 200 Betting Picks

Onto our NASCAR betting picks, and the first thing to bear in mind is this race is shorter than usual and is a road circuit, meaning the name of Chase Elliott looms large.

Chase Elliott +450

I hate going for short-priced favorites, which is what Elliott is here. Elliott is in unbelievable form and has the best record of all current drivers on road courses. So how can we not pick him?

Go easy with the short odds. As we’ve seen so often this season, the obvious thing in NASCAR doesn’t always happen. I’m reluctant with the short odds, but Chase Elliott is my first betting pick.

Daniel Suarez +1100

Elsewhere, I think the Trackhouse duo of Ross Chastain (+700) and Daniel Suarez (+1100) look a threat this weekend.

A Chevrolet car is just -180 to win this week so that rules out that bet. So why not Daniel Suarez outright? The Mexican is +1100 to win, +160 to finish in the top 5, and +350 for a top 3 finish.

In his last four races, his record reads 3, 9, 6, and 5. That’s not hammering on the door for a win, but shows he’s there or thereabouts.

His one Cup Series win this season came at Sonoma on the road circuit, so I’m thinking that makes Suarez a good bet at +1100 and I make him my second betting pick to win the Verizon 200.
