We’re on to race number four of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. It’s still early in the season so if you need expert betting advice on NASCAR’s forthcoming race, read this before it goes down at the Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, March 12. We have free picks on which driver(s) could win the event and your bet outright!
NASCAR Phoenix Raceway Preview
The trip along the West continues (and ends) with the United Rentals Work United 500. It’s the new sponsorship name, but if you remember it being called Ruoff Mortgage 500 a year ago, it’s the same race. To make this easier on everybody, we’re just going to call it the Phoenix Raceway event in our betting preview.
Of course, this track has extra meaning. Phoenix is also where the championship finale will go down for the four Cup Series drivers that stay in the mix until the end. Given the track’s significance, no driver is going to overlook Sunday’s race cause it could pay dividends down the line.
This race consists of 312 laps around the 1.022-mile circuit. Stage one includes 75 laps, while it jumps up to 125 for the second stage. The third and final stage will consist of 122 laps.
For what it’s worth, Chase Briscoe is the defending champion, having won here in 2022. Despite that, Briscoe isn’t particularly high in the betting odds to win. As it stands, the following drivers are most favored to take the checkered flag on Sunday:
Driver | ![]() | ![]() |
|
Joey Logano | +800 | +800 | +800 |
Ryan Blaney | +800 | +800 | +800 |
Kyle Larson | +900 | +900 | +900 |
Denny Hamlin | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |
Ross Chastain | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |

Kyle Busch | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |
Christopher Bell | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |
Kevin Harvick | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |
William Byron | +1200 | +1200 | +1200 |
Best Bets To Make NASCAR Phoenix Raceway
Nothing has changed with our NASCAR betting strategy. Whether it’s this race or any other on the season, we’re spreading the wealth when picking outright winners. The unpredictability of this sport just demands this multi-bet apporoach. With that said, here are our top three drivers worth betting on to win NASCAR’s Phoenix Raceway:
Kevin Harvick
If we could only make one bet on this race, then Harvick would get our money. Statistically speaking, there’s no one better in history at this track. None. His nine wins in Phoenix is an all-time record. Harvick has finished in the top 10 each of the past 19 times. So at the very least, Harvick to finish top-10 is a prop bet worth taking.
But here’s why we absolutely can’t pass up betting on Harvick this Sunday: it is likely his last-ever race at the track. Of course, Harvick is already on record saying that 2023 is his final hoorah and unless he makes the Championship 4, he’ll never race in Phoenix again. A swan song this weekend would not only be epic, but it’s entirely plausible given his track record here.
Ryan Blaney
Honestly, we’re rather surprised Blaney is tied for the best odds to win. That’s a lot of love from NASCAR’s best betting sites for a guy who hasn’t won a Cup Series race in 49 straight tries. But alas, we’re taking him (we just wish we could get him at a better value).
Look, Blaney is eventually going to get back in the win column — he’s one of the best drivers in the circuit, after all. And Phoenix is one of his best chances. On this track last year, he finished fourth and second overall so we know Blaney has breakthrough potential. He’s a solid bet in our book.
Christopher Bell
Bell is off to a mostly solid start in 2023. Sure, he had a bad outing in California two weekends ago (he DNF), but aside from that Bell finished third in Daytona and fifth in Vegas. Bell is a solid bet to close out this West Coast trip. In six career starts in Phoenix, Bell has three top 10s. That’s a trend worth riding in this one!
