It’s worth mentioning that the above lines apply to Saturday’s Pocono 325 race only. You see, it’s a double-header weekend in Pocono for the Cup Series. Saturday is day one, followed by the Pocono 350 race the day after. Don’t expect lines for the Pocono 350 until the 325 is a wrap.
Back to Saturday’s NASCAR betting event, once again, Kyle Larson is the overwhelming favorite to take the checkered flag. Given what he’s done in the sport over the last two months, that’s not surprising. It’s only right to start our best bets with him.
Kyle Larson (+210)
What’s there to say about Larson that hasn’t already been said? To recap: he picked up another first-place finish at Nashville last weekend. He’s now won three straight Cup Series events and if you throw in the All-Star Race, four in a row period. Even before this streak, he racked up three consecutive second-place finishes in the preceding races. So the last time Larson didn’t finish in the top-2 was May 2 — almost two months ago!
Anytime a driver is this scorching hot, you HAVE to throw money their way. You just do — no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Trends matter dearly in betting, whether that’s motorsports or another, so ride that trend to the bank!
Though, there is one thing that gives us pause about Larson: he’s never won at Pocono before. Ever. That’s saying something for an accomplished driver like Larson. As an insurance, we’ll be betting with a few other drivers to go alongside Larson this weekend.
Denny Hamlin (+700)
Remember when we said Pocono has a unique track layout? Welp, we meant it. The “tricky” in its Tricky Triangle nickname stems from that triangle, specifically, how each side is completely different than the other. That means different straightaways, different turn radiuses, different degrees of banking, etc.
Therefore, experience certainly matters at Pocono. It’s a big reason why repeat winners have been so common during NASCAR’s long history there. With that said, no active driver has more Cup Series victories at Pocono than Hamlin, who has six to his name, including the 2020 event.
One more thing about Hamlin at Pocono: he has a habit of winning back-to-back races. He did so in 2006 then again between 2007 and 2008. Add this up and Hamlin becomes a safe bet for at least one of the Pocono events this weekend, if not both.
Kyle Busch (+800)
Many of the things we said about Hamlin also applies to Busch. His experience at the “tricky triangle” is right on par with Hamlin. In fact, Busch has also won six different times at the raceway. Though, only three came from Cup Series events, while two more were in the truck series and one Xfinity.
But on that note, Busch is the driver who has had the most recent success at Pocono, in the Cup Series at least. Of the last six races to take place here, he’s won half of them.
Three different bets on a streaky-hot Larson and two proven Pocono winners like Hamlin and Busch is a smart strategy to approach the weekend. Of course, if any driver shines bright on Saturday, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to “double down” on them come Sunday’s event.
How To Watch The NASCAR Pocono Race
Like we said earlier, there will be two separate Cup Series races over the weekend — both at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. Here are full viewing details for both events:
- When is the Pocono 325? Saturday, June 26 at 3 pm EST
- When is the Pocono 350? Sunday, June 27 at 3:30 pm EST
- What TV station will air both races? Live coverage will be aired exclusively by NBC Sports Network
