The battle to win the Nascar Cup Series Championship moves to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway circuit this weekend, and here are our expert picks and preview of the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 race.
After this weekend’s race, there are only another four regular-season races before we get to the Round of 16 play-offs.
At the top of the Drivers’ Championship leader board, the battle is heating up. The current leader is Denny Hamlin with 836 points, he is closely followed by Kyle Larson on 826 points. There is then a bit of a gap to third-placed driver Kyle Busch, who has 739 points.

Recent Nascar Form
Last weekend’s race was the Quaker State 400, and this was a battle between the Busch brothers, Kurt and Kyle. In the end, Kurt Busch prevailed, but it’s fair to say he needed the assistance of his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Ross Chastain.
The two brothers dominated the race. In total, they led for a combined 235 of the 260 laps. Kurt alone led 144 of them. Third place was taken by Kyle Busch’s team-mate, Martin Truex Jr.
Going into the race, Chase Elliott was first on the starting grid. This didn’t prevent in-form Kyle Larson from going into the race as the +250 favorite, despite starting from sixth place on the grid. In the end, Larson would finish down in a disappointing 18th position, with Elliott back in 7th place.
Such has been the previous form of Larson this season though, his team Hendrick Motorsports has rewarded him with a contract extension in the past few days. Larson has won four Cup Series races this season, which is more than anybody else on the circuit.

|Martin Truex Jr||+500|
Going into this weekend’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and in the latest Nascar Betting we see Larson is +500 favorite alongside Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr.
The top sportsbooks will vary their odds, with some just favoring Truex Jr, and some Larson. But on the whole, they are all around the same price to win.
The main reason for Truex Jr coming into the reckoning is because he won at Phoenix and Martinsville, which are regarded as similar shorter tracks to the New Hampshire venue being used this Sunday.
Can Martin Truex Jr finally record his maiden New Hampshire Win?
Martin Truex Jr has never won at New Hampshire before though, but despite this, he does have a decent overall record here.
In his last six races on this circuit, he has recorded finishes in the top seven. In four of those races, he has led for at least 83 laps, so it appears to be a circuit tailor-made for Truex Jr.
Truex Jr is also in excellent form this season. He finished third last Sunday and has three Cup Series wins to his name, just one behind Kyle Larson.
Based on all of the above, Truex Jr would seem a far better value Nascar Pick than Kyle Larson for this race.
Might be a Weekend to avoid Kyle Larson
Larson and his fellow (active) Hendrick drivers have never won on the track at Loudon, and although that could well change this week, I’m not going to go with them myself.
The Hendrick drivers are in form, but they seem to be doing better on tracks with longer straights, which the Loudon circuit doesn’t have. As I said though, that doesn’t mean that Larson and co can’t win.
Great chance for Denny Hamlin to increase Points Table Lead
Moving onto Denny Hamlin, and I do believe he has a more than decent chance here. The Toyota cars might not have the speed to match the Chevrolet cars on the straights, but they have the handling to deal with the corners.
Hamlin has three wins plus six runners-up finishes here at Loudon, so is well suited to the course. He also knows as the points leader in the table, this race represents a great chance to open some daylight between himself and Kyle Larson.
The Outside Chances
Other drivers offering decent value this weekend are Kevin Harvick and Ryan Blaney – for these sort of outside bets check out our bonuses and promotions page for even more outstanding betting offers.
Starting with Kevin Harvick, and he just can’t be ignored at +1200. In his last six races here at New Hampshire, he has won three times. He has also finished in the top 5 in six of his last seven races here. In total, Harvick has won four times at New Hampshire in his career.
Indeed, his Stewart-Haas Racing team hasn’t been firing on all cylinders this season. But in crew chief Rodney Childers, he has a New Hampshire specialist. Childers has four wins to his name on this circuit, most of all the current crew chiefs.
Onto Ryan Blaney, and the Team Penske driver has two top-seven finishes here lately. Back in 2019, he finished 7th when Harvick won, and in 2019 (when Harvick also coincidently won) in 4th position.
At odds of +1800, Blaney has an outside chance. But approach with caution, as lots of things would have to go right for him to win.
