Chicago Bulls breakdown and analysis

The Chicago Bulls finished the 2021-22 NBA regular season with a 46-36 record, which was good enough for the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference. That was a big improvement over the team’s 31-41 record in the previous year. With the team’s first winning record since they finished 42-40 in 2016, the Bulls made the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

One of the main reasons for the Bulls success this year was the play of DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan, who joined the club in August 2021 via a sign-and-trade deal from the San Antonio Spurs, had a career year. DeRozan averaged 27.9 points per game for the Bulls. Zach Lavine was the second highest scorer on the team with 24.4 points per game.

DeRozan had an okay game for the Bulls in the first game of their series against the Bucks, but his 18 points was below his average for the regular season. However, Nikola Vucevic, who averaged 17.6 points during the regular season, had 24 points in the team’s losing effort on Sunday.

Milwaukee Bucks breakdown and analysis

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to be the first team since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors to win back-to-back NBA titles. The Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns for the title last year, winning the championship in six games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was the NBA Finals MVP last season. This season, Antetokounmpo is a finalist for the regular season MVP. Antetokounmpo had a career best 29.9 points per game. It was a bit of a surprise to not see Antetokounmpo listed as a finalist for “Defensive Player of the Year” as well. In short, Antetokounmpo is one of the most dominant forces on both ends of the court in today’s NBA. Any team he plays on has a chance to win the NBA title.

The Bucks had one other player, Khris Middleton, top the 20 point threshold. Middleton averaged 20.1 points per game during the regular season.

Antetokounmpo led the way for the Bucks in the first game of their series against Chicago. He put up 27 points on 34 minutes. Middleton was limited to 11 points, but two other starters, Brook Lopez (18) and Jrue Holiday (15) picked up enough points to help the Bucks to the win.

2021-22 NBA season series

The Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks faced off four times during the 2021-22 NBA regular season. The Bucks won all four of the games.

Our Pick

It’s almost impossible to pick against the Bucks in this first round series and we won’t do that, especially with Milwaukee playing at home where they went 27-14 during the regular season.

Pick: Bucks to beat Bulls.
