The 2022 NBA postseason ended on June 16 when the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 103-90 at TD Garden in Boston. With that victory, the Warriors closed out the NBA Finals with a 4-2 series triumph over the Celtics.
Boston ended a 12-year Finals drought in making it out of the Eastern Conference. With the loss to the Warriors, the Celtics have not won an NBA championship since 2008. As for Golden State, the win marked the team’s fourth NBA title since 2015 and the seventh in franchise history. The Warriors have represented the Western Conference six times since 2015 in the NBA Championship Finals.
The 2022-23 NBA season begins on October 18, 2022.

2023 NBA Championship Odds
Golden State Warriors
It’s kind of remarkable that the Golden State Warriors have kept the core of the 2022 NBA Championship Team — Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green together for so long. What has helped the club as those players have gotten deeper into their careers is the addition of players like Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole. All those players are signed with the team for at least another year, so there is a very real chance the Warriors will be back in the NBA title game in 2023.
The thing to watch for the Warriors is how they rest that aging core with an eye toward locking up a playoff spot and then going to the Finals.
Golden State has some young players to watch in 2023 as well in James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
Los Angeles Clippers
Two names the Los Angeles Clippers should have in 2023 that the team did not have in 2022 are Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Leonard missed the entire season after getting surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. George was limited to 31 games during the 2022 season, mostly because of an elbow injury.
Another player the Clippers might have to help them is John Wall. Wall, who has only played 40 games over the last three season due to injury and contract issues, seems likely to sign with the Clippers, if he hasn’t already done so. Wall is a five-time All-Star.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics fell short in their bid to win the 2022 NBA Championship, but the Eastern Conference Champions should look at the setback as a learning experience. With that, the Celtics will be a more prepared team in 2023.
The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum know what they need to do to compete at a top level. One of those things is shoring up a somewhat thin and inexperienced line up and adding some depth so they can throw different looks at teams that decide to key on Tatum.
What the Celtics do in the offseason will be incredibly important.
Our Pick
It’s hard to bet against the Golden State Warriors after what they did in 2022. Yes, the team will be older, but they will also be deeper in 2023. That’s scary.
