The Timberwolves boast a younger, more athletic roster that has arguably gained an advantage from their playoff run to the Western Conference Finals last season.
Meanwhile, the Lakers appeared to show their age and some rust after a week off. They struggled in the paint and during transition plays, ultimately having no solution for the Timberwolves after the first quarter.
The Lakers’ lack of size and powerful presence inside was evident in the series opener, and their shallow bench also became apparent.

LeBron can’t shoulder the load alone any longer, and Luka’s contributions aren’t sufficient on their own in this situation. Minnesota has gone 3-1 both straight up and against the spread in their last four encounters with Los Angeles.
I would take the Timberwolves to cover in this one, while I think the Lakers win, it will be a close one.

For Los Angeles to secure a victory, they must focus on tightening their defense, aiming to disrupt what Minnesota does best. Historically, the under has hit 7 out of the last 10 matchups between these teams.
