Ja Morant remains out

Ja Morant has missed four games in a row after flashing a gun on Instagram Live a little over a week ago. There doesn’t seem to be a timetable for the superstar guard’s return as the NBA continues to investigate the incident. In the meantime, his Grizzlies are keeping their heads above water without him, winning their past two home games.

Memphis followed up an impressive 131-110 win over the Warriors on Thursday with a 112-108 victory over Dallas on Saturday. However, Taylor Jenkins’ club hasn’t been good on the road all year, with or without Morant. The Grizz are just 12-21 away from home. A shockingly poor record given they’re tied for second in the Western Conference with a 40-26 record.

Doncic and Irving banged up?

Playing without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks’ loss to Memphis on Saturday dropped them to eighth place in the West. Irving should return on Monday after missing the game with “soreness in his right foot,” but be sure to monitor Doncic’s status before placing your bets. The Serbian superstar, who is dealing with a left thigh strain, is averaging 33 points per game (second in the NBA).

Dallas is plus-9.2 points per 100 possessions with the 24-year-old on the floor. But, they’re minus-3.5 points per 100 possessions when he or Kyrie aren’t playing. With a 3-7 record in their last 10 contests, Jason Kidd’s club will find themselves in the NBA Play-In Tournament if they can’t string some W’s together soon.

Dallas vs Memphis

The Grizzlies are a 1-point road favorite in Dallas on Monday night. At home, the Mavericks have a 11-21-3 against the spread in the NBA, covering only 34.4% of the time. However, as mentioned earlier, their opponents are miserable on the road. Memphis is 11-21-1 (34.4%) against the spread away from home.

Mavericks’ home games hit the OVER 61.8% of the time, the fifth-highest mark league-wide. Meanwhile, Grizzlies’ road games go UNDER at a 60.6% clip, which is also the fifth-highest rate in the NBA.

Best Bet

This is a hard one to handicap. Not only does it pits the league’s third-worst road team against the second-worst home team. One side is great at going OVER while the other is superb at converting the UNDER.

However, what we do know is that Morant will be out of the lineup while Doncic at least has a chance to return. Assuming the Serbian suits up, we like the Mavericks to cover the spread at home.
