The Oklahoma City Thunder achieved their 50th victory of the season on Monday night, edging out the Houston Rockets with a score of 137-128.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was exceptional, pouring in 51 points, while Jalen Williams contributed 24 points.
This marked the fourth time this season that Gilgeous-Alexander scored at least 50 points, occurring within the last seven weeks. As the NBA’s scoring leader, he also finished with 40 or more points for the ninth time during the 2024-25 season.
Gilgeous-Alexander was instrumental in the win, showcasing his talent by slicing through the defense for his fourth 50-point outing of the season.
Game Preview (Thunder vs. Grizzlies)
The former Kentucky star was particularly effective from beyond the arc, matching his season-high for made three-pointers— a record he set earlier on December 10 against Dallas.

He is now only the 12th player in NBA history to achieve four or more 50-point games in a single season.
Meanwhile, Jalen Williams notched his fifth straight game with 20 or more points. He hit multiple three-pointers for the 30th time this season with a strong performance from long range.
However, he left the game in the fourth quarter due to a wrist injury. Although he was able to return and finish the game, it’s a situation worth monitoring as the team prepares for their upcoming matchup against Memphis.
On Monday, Memphis faced off against the Atlanta Hawks at home, but for the third consecutive game, they fell short in the closing seconds, with Atlanta securing a 132-130 victory on a buzzer-beater layup.
Desmond Bane had an impressive performance for the Grizzlies, achieving his first career triple-double with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

However, with just 3.8 seconds left, Dyson Daniels intercepted the ball from him and passed it to Caris LeVert, who made the game-winning shot.
The Grizzlies were already missing Santi Aldama and Ja Morant due to injuries. They suffered another setback when Jaren Jackson Jr. went down with a left ankle injury less than two minutes into the game after attempting to block a shot from Daniels.
Jackson appeared to be in significant pain as he limped off to the locker room.
His status will be closely monitored ahead of the matchup against the Thunder. The Grizzlies are expected to provide more information regarding his injury following further evaluation.
The Hawks capitalized on the situation, scoring a season-high 82 points in the paint. I think this is an ideal spot for the Grizzlies to bounce back.
I’d take the Grizzlies to cover the 8-point spread.

I anticipate Ja Morant returning to the court for this game after sitting out the last two. Memphis will need him if Jaren Jackson Jr. can’t play.
The team has been on a tough losing streak, dropping three consecutive games, and they’ve allowed over 130 points in two of those matches.

Now, they’re up against the top team in the Western Conference. The Thunder have seen the total go over in their last seven games and four of their last five against the Grizzlies.
While the Thunder boast a strong defense, they did allow Houston to score 128 points even without three key players. A night earlier, the Spurs put up 132 against them. I recommend taking the over on this one.
Over 250.5 points is the best bet in this one.
