  • Julius Randle and Jimmy Butler have been on a tear for their respective teams since the NBA All-Star break
  • The Eastern Conference clash tips off from Miami-Dade Arena at 7:30pm ET on Wednesday, March 22th

We can only hope Wednesday’s game is as entertaining as the last time these clubs met up in early March. Julius Randle hit a 3-pointer off a broken play with just 1.7 seconds left to give his Knicks a 122-120 victory. Randle, who scored 43 points that night, is also coming off a career-high 57 points in a loss to the Timberwolves on Monday.

Can New York (42-31) get back on track against Miami (39-34)? Before we break down the matchup, check out our guide to betting on the 2023 NBA Finals and our tips for betting on the NBA.

Randle emerging as a superstar

New York had strung together three-straight wins before falling 140-134 to Minnesota on Monday. Julius Randle erupted for 57 points, the third-highest total in franchise history, draining eight threes in the loss. The Knicks big man has been incredible this season, averaging or tying career highs in points (25.6), rebounds (10.2) and assists (4.1).

Jalen Brunson has also looked superb since returning from a foot injury, scoring 24 points against the Nuggets and registering 23 points and 10 assists versus the T-Wolves. Headed towards a playoff matchup with the Cavaliers, Tom Thibodeau’s club needs to make up three games in the win column to seize home-court advantage from Cleveland.

Heat shoot for the sixth seed

Miami has won three of its past four games, but are still two losses behind Brooklyn for the all-important sixth-seed in the Eastern Conference. To avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament, Erik Spoelstra’s club must beat New York for the first time this season. They lost both previous games at the buzzer.

Tyler Herro scored 10 points in the final three minutes of Sunday’s 112-100 victory over Detroit. Jimmy Butler also finished with 26 points and 10 assists while Bam Adebayo went for 22 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the win. All three will be vital in Wednesday’s battle against a Knicks team that’s 12-4 since early February.

They’re just 11-24-2 (31.4%) against the spread. Meanwhile, the Knicks are the best road team ATS in the entire league, covering 66.7% (24-12) of their games.

Best Bet

It’s fair to expect another close game from these long-time rivals. While no one plays harder than Tom Thibodeau’s squad on the road, Miami simply needs this one more. After suffering two tight losses to the Knicks this season, Jimmy Butler and the Heat will be ultra-motivated to pick up a home win on Wednesday.
