2022 NBA Championship Futures Odds & Picks: Golden State Warriors Make A Move

  • The Brooklyn Nets remain favorites to win the 2022 NBA championship
  • LeBron James and the Lakers  remain in the hunt for the 2022 NBA title
  • Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors jump into the top three

The Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers were the preseason favorites to win the 2022 NBA championship. Those two clubs remain in the top two spots after the first month of the season, but both teams have lost some ground according to the oddsmakers. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors, who opened the season with an 11-1 record, have gained a decent amount of ground on Brooklyn and Los Angeles.

The Milwaukee Bucks have fallen from the third spot to fourth in the rankings, but the team improved its odds of winning the 2022 NBA title even though the team’s record is a losing one at 6-7.

2022 NBA Championship Odds

Brooklyn remains at the top

That the Nets are still at the top of the rankings to win the 2022 NBA championship even without Kyrie Irving says a lot about the team. The Nets are 9-4 on the season and have not lost back-to-back games. As expected, Kevin Durant is leading the team — and the league — with 29.4 points per game to go with 8.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists. A healthy James Harden is contributing as well, with nearly 20 points per game, 7.8 rebounds and 9 assists. Harden said he is still getting back up to speed, but in a recent game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Harden scored 39 points and added 12 assists.

Lakers stumble

The Los Angeles Lakers were picked as one of the teams to beat this season, but they are 7-6 and with LeBron James injured, the team might lose some ground. Things were looking okay for Los Angeles when they bounced back from consecutive losses to score overtime wins against the Hornets and the Heat, but the club got blown out by the Timberwolves 107-83. If James is out for a prolonged period and the Lakers can’t play team ball to make up for his absence, Los Angeles could see its title chances dwindle.

Warriors surge

The Golden State Warriors have not lost a game since October 28 when they fell 104-101 to the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime. The club is 11-1 on the season and is averaging a league leading 116.2 points per game while giving up the third lowest amount of points per game at 101.5. Steph Curry is leading the team with 28.4 points per game, which ranks him second to Durant in the NBA. The Warriors will be hard pressed to sustain the pace they are on right now, but they have come together early in the season and that is nothing but a positive. especially since Klay Thompson remains out of action.

Miami moves up

The Miami Heat have moved from +2500 to +1000 to win the 2022 NBA championship on the strength of their 8-5 start to the season. Many NBA watchers were happy with the moves the Heat made in the off season, but it has been Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro who have helped Miami the most.

MyTopSportsbook’s Pick

Right now I’d say the best bets are the Nets from the East and the Warriors from the West. With Harden getting back form I’m leaning toward the Nets, but if Golden State can stay hot and Klay Thompson can come back and fit into the team’s scheme, I’d give Golden State a shot to get back to the the title.
