The San Antonio Spurs need to show a different image against the Houston Rockets this Saturday that the one they showed against the Thunder in the middle of the week.ย Spurs and Rockets clash at 8:30 PM ET at AT&T stadium.
San Antonio lost only their second game of the season against the Thunder 94-88 on Wednesday, but the problem is not the result, is how they looked that night as a team in general.
“We couldn’t guard (Jackson) tonight,” San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. “He really helped them. He was basically the difference in the game. He did a great job.”
“I thought a pretty good percentage of ours tonight were hurried or frenetic at times,” Popovich added. “I didn’t like our selection.”
The Spurs will face the Magic on Friday before taking on the Rockets, who own the best offense in the NBA, averaging 109 points per game.
Houston didnโt have problems beating the Hawks in Atlanta on Wednesday; they will face the Nets on Friday before taking on the Spurs.
“Their bench was the difference in the game,” Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said after Houston’s reserves scored 67 points on the night. “They have some depth, and they have a good team. All those guys came in and contributed.”
Houston has covered the spread in the last two meetings against the Spurs, plus the game total ended UNDER in three of the last four meetings.
The NBA odds for this matchup have the Spurs as 5.5 point favorites, and the total was set at 200.5.
