The Brooklyn Nets were the pre-season favorites to earn the Eastern Conference title for the 2021-22 season. As the calendar turns from November to December, the Brooklyn squad is still at the top of the board, but they have slipped a little, as have the No. 2 rated Milwaukee Bucks. With those teams losing ground, the Miami Heat made a jump up the odds, as did the somewhat surprising Washington Wizards club.

2022 Eastern Conference Odds
Nets hold on to top spot
Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets are 15-6 and at the top of the Eastern Conference as December begins. Durant is the top scorer in the NBA right now with 28.6 points per game. James Harden is second on the team in scoring with an average of 21 points per game. Harden closed out November with one of his best games of the season. He put up 34 points with a field goal percentage of 55 percent.

The Nets have been prone to slow starts this season and that fact bears watching as the campaign wears on and players accumulate more minutes.
Heat pick up more ground
The Miami Heat were +1200 to win the East in the preseason odds. Those odds dropped to +750 in early November. Now, with the Heat 1t 13-8 and third in the conference, the team has taken another chunk out of those odds. Miami now stands at +500 to win the East.
Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are the scoring leaders for the Heat. Butler is averaging 23.6 points per game, while Herro is scoring at a 21.8 points per game pace. The bad thing for the team is that both players have missed some time due to injuries, and that bodes watching.

The Heat have a very important Eastern Conference game coming up on December 4. They meet the Milwaukee Bucks in that matchup. In the first meeting between the two teams, the Heat beat the Bucks by a score of 137-95.
The Bucks make a move
The Milwaukee Bucks, who won the NBA title last year with a 4-2 series win over the Phoenix Suns, opened the season at +425. The team improved those odds to +375 in November and they have chipped away a little more at those odds. Milwaukee now stands at +325 to take the East.
The Bucks made a move this week and signed DeMarcus Cousins to the roster to help the team, which has been without Brook Lopez for all but one game this season.

Washington surprises
The Washington Wizards are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference right now with a record of 13-8. The club opened the season at +5000 to win the conference and even though they have one of the best records in the NBA, it seems as if oddsmakers are expecting a fall off for the team as they are +4000. The club has gone 3-5 since mid-November, so those fears might be warranted.
