mavs_spursGame five will be critical for the tremendous series the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs have given us in the first round of the NBA playoffs.  The match is this Wednesday at 7 PM ET at the AT&T Center, and has the potential to be a great one.

The story in game four was the disappearing of point guard star Tony Parker for the San Antonio Spurs; he only had 10 points on the night and didn’t take crucial shots in the end.

“He didn’t have a great game by any means, but it happens. He’ll be fine,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the game. “I don’t think the same guys are going to play great every night in a series.”

For the Mavericks, the story has been Dirk Nowitzki, who is improving, but they need him at 100% in game 5.  He had 19 in game four but was not influential.

“I’m working to try to help get him more,” Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle said. “In the playoffs, a lot of the game comes down to playing out of the flow. When we’re doing it well, the ball moves and it moves through the hands of the best players as much as possible.”

The Spurs are six point favorites in the spread according to the NBA betting lines, but despite the series is tied 2-2 straight up, the Mavericks have covered every single game in the series and have a smashing 4-0 against the spread record in these playoffs.
