Sacramento is the hottest team in the NBA since the All-Star break, winning 11 of its last 13 games and seven in a row on the road. With a 42-23 record, the surging Kings are tied for second in the West heading into Monday night’s game in Salt Lake City.

Utah (34-36) is currently hanging on to the 10th and final spot in the conference after an upset win over the Celtics on Saturday. Before we break down the matchup, check out our guide to betting on the 2023 NBA Finals and our tips for betting on the NBA.

Crowning the Kings

Domantas Sabonis had 30 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in Saturday’s 132-118 victory over the Wizards. One of the league’s most-underrated players, the 26-year-old is averaging 19.2 points with a career high in rebounds (12.5) and assists (7.2). Thanks to Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox, who leads the league in clutch scoring, the Kings pace the NBA with a 118.7 offensive rating.

Sacramento is 22-12 since the start of the New Year, which is tied for the fourth-most in 2023. They’ve already clinched their first-winning season since 2006. And are about to end the longest-running playoff drought (16 years!) in NBA history.

Jazz keep playoff hopes alive

Utah is still in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race thanks to outstanding play from Lauri Markkanen. The 25-year-old Fin notched 28 points in a 118-117 comeback win over Boston on Saturday. Rookie Walker Kessler also had a game-saving block to seal the victory. Averaging 8.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game, the 7-foot center is making a quiet run for the Rookie of the Year award.

The Jazz have lost two squeakers to the Kings this season, falling 117-15 on home court in early January and 125-125 in Sacramento in late December.

Utah vs Sacramento

Sacramento is a 6-point road favorite on Monday night. Looking for their eighth-straight win away from home, the Kings have the second-best road record in the NBA (22-13). And, only the Knicks (66.7%) have covered against-the-spread on the road at a higher rate than Mike Brown’s club (65.7%). Utah has a solid 21-13 home record, however, covering 54.6% of their matchups at Vivint Arena.

Jazz games go OVER the spread at the fifth-highest rate (57.4%) league-wide, but they actually skew towards the UNDER (54.6%) in Salt Like City. Kings road contests also hit the UNDER 62.9% of the time. That’s the second-highest mark in the NBA.

Best Bet

Sacramento and Utah have already played two tight games this season. While the Kings’ superior offensive efficiency and clutch scoring should lead them to their eight-consecutive road win, we like the Jazz to cover the six points on their home court.
