While there isn’t much new coming across the NBA wire, it still seemed necessary to update our NBA Title futures. As the summer draws to a close and players prepare for camps to start in a month, the favorites remain the same, though some jockeying for position has certainly occurred since back in July.
The Cavaliers still lead the charge despite both the Tristan Thompson contract fallout and the more recent news that Kyrie Irving could be out until January. However, in a pillow-soft East, the Cavs don’t really need to worry where they finish in the standings; they’ll still enter the postseason as favorites to win as long as they’re healthy.
The Spurs slipped past the Warriors in the rankings, still spurred on by the LaMarcus Aldridge signing. And Utah’s already slim hopes took a big shot when Dante Exum went down during international play.
Factoring in all of the above, here are our updated NBA futures heading into September.
