Last season saw Baylor take home the NCAA title with a 86-70 win over Gonzaga Despite that setback, the Gonzaga Bulldogs were the preseason favorites to win the 2022 NCAAB title. The odds for Gonzaga have significantly improved over the past month. While Gonzaga has improved its odds, the Baylor Bears fell to long shot status during January play.  Meanwhile, the Auburn Tigers look like they could become the latest Cinderella story.

Let’s look at the best sites for March Madness 2022 betting. Also, be sure to check out our NCAA College Basketball betting page for tips and advice on how to wager on NCAA basketball.

2022 NCAAB National Championship odds

Gonzaga improves

In early January, the Gonzaga Bulldogs were +700 to claim the 2022 NCAA Basketball Championship. With a strong month of play behind them, the Bulldogs improved those odds to +475.

Gonzaga has been unbeaten since they dropped a 91-82 game to Alabama in early December. The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 12 straight when they ran over BYU on Saturday, February 5 by a score of 90-57.

The Gonzaga club is 19-2 on the season. The player to watch for the Bulldogs is Chet Holmgren. The freshman, who could be the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Entry Draft is playing a complete game. Holmgren had  20 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and five blocks in the win over BYU.

Baylor slips

The Baylor Bears were the No. 1 team in the NCAAB AP poll in January and looked like they were going to be a possible repeat championship team in 2022. Things have changed for Baylor. The team has dropped to No. 10 in the latest AP poll and fallen from +900 to +1600 in the odds.

The Bears began the season with a perfect 15-0 record. Baylor experienced its first loss of the season on January 11 when they lost to Texas Tech. The Bears are 4-4 in their past eight games and were positively crushed by the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, February 5, losing 83-59.

Auburn climbs

At this time in January, the Auburn Tigers were +3500 to win the NCAAB title in 2022. One month later, Auburn has cut those odds in a big way. The only team with better odds as of now is Gonzaga, who are the No. 2 ranked team in the AP poll, one spot behind the top-ranked Auburn club.

Auburn took over the No. 1 spot during Week 12 of the NCAAB season and has not slipped from that perch. Before this season, the Tigers had never reached the top of the AP Poll. Auburn is 22-1 on the season and that loss came in the team’s fourth outing of the year when they dropped a 115-109 game to UConn in double overtime!

Auburn might have been an afterthought at the beginning of the 2021-22 NCAAB season, but they have exceeded expectations and will be a real threat come March.

Our pick

With how close they came to winning last season, I think Gonzaga is the team to beat in 2022. With that being said, I would not sleep on Auburn, who are red hot or Duke, who will be extremely motivated to send head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who has led the Blue Devils to five national championships, into retirement with a sixth title.

Pick to win 2022 NCAAB Championship: Gonzaga
