Both these teams are some way behind number one ranked Purdue in the Big Ten table. Neither side are likely to be anywhere near the championship match at the end of the season, and this is reflected in the betting odds with the best March Madness betting sites.

To win the 2023 championship, Wisconsin is +12500, and MI State is +7500. Their aforementioned Big Ten rivals Purdue are joint third in the betting at +1400. The current favorites to win the championship match are the Houston Cougars at +650. They are some way ahead of second favorites Kansas, who are +1100.
Joining Purdue at +1400 are Connecticut, Arizona, and Tennessee. Just behind this group comes Alabama and UCLA, both at +1600. There is then a bit of a gap in the betting to previous favorites Gonzaga who are +2200.

Can Wisconsin bounce straight back with a win?
Wisconsin saw a six game winning run come to a disappointing end over the weekend when they went down 79-69 to Illinois at the State Farm Center.

Prior to that defeat, the Badgers had been on an excellent run of form, not having lost since the end of November, when they went down 78-75 to Wake Forest.
Overall this season, Wisconsin has a record that reads 11-3. They have a ranking of 14, and with that, comes a target on their heads. They won’t want back-to-back defeats and will have extra incentive to beat the Spartans, who themselves are currently on a good run.
MI State on a six match winning run
The Spartans are on a six match winning streak that has seen them climb up the Big Ten table in recent weeks. They have an overall record of 11-4 this season, which is very similar to tonight’s opponents.
In their most recent win, MI State saw off Michigan 59-53 last weekend, bringing to an end the Wolverines two match winning run.

This win will be all the more sweeter coming against local rivals. And it was just the confidence boost that MSU needed ahead of back-to-back difficult road trips to Wisconsin tonight, and Illinois on Friday.
Wisconsin vs MI State Betting

If the Spartans can overcome the Badgers at the Kohl Center tonight, it really will be a statement victory. But for me, this looks like a real ask for MI State. Onto the total points spread. In four out of five of Wisconsin’s latest matches, over 124.5 has been beaten. In fact, not just beaten, smashed at times. And on the one time it wasn’t beaten, 123 points were scored.
As for matches involving the Michigan State Spartans, two of their last five fixtures have seen 124.5 points bettered. On one occasion they were well short (112), and the other two were close at 118 and 121 points.
It can only be assumed that as the sportsbooks are expecting a close match, they might think both sides will cancel each other out. I’m looking at it from the perspective of Wisconsin though, as I think they will win. And Wisconsin has been involved in a lot of high scoring matches lately. Therefore my final betting pick for Wisconsin vs MI State is for over 124.5 total points.
