The Valero Alamo Bowl features what should be a great game between the Oregon Ducks and the Texas Longhorns, this Monday at 6:45 PM ET at the Alamodome.
The match will mean the last game for Mack Brown as the Longhorns head coach; an 8-4 season was not enough for him to keep his job.
“The standard is really high here,” said the 62-year-old Brown. “We set a standard at this place. You’d better win all of them. I understand that. … The standard is really high here and I’m proud of being part of setting that standard.
Brown will try to win this bowl despite he was disrespected by the entire school committee as they were negotiating with Alabama’s Nick Saban weeks ago. “I felt like I could stay,” Brown said. “I really felt like it wasn’t best for the university to stay.
It won’t be the last season QB Marcus Mariota; he announced he will be back for another year.
“It is an honor to be a student at the University of Oregon and to have the opportunity to represent our institution on the football field alongside my teammates,” he said. “I look forward to earning my degree next year and to the rest of my career at this great university.”
Oregon is a 14 point favorite for this matchup. The game total is at 67 points. Oregon is 11-3 ATS in road games after playing a conference game over the last 3 seasons.
