For the Crimson Tide of Alabama, the season has been quite the whirlwind. The team out of the SEC opened things up on the road against Florida State and they suffered a loss to head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles in shocking fashion. After that loss, people wanted Kalen DeBoer fired. Now, Alabama QB Ty Simpson is the betting favorite to win 2025 Heisman.

Yes, things have changed quite a bit from that first week of the season and Simpson has played a key role in things. Few people can argue that Simpson is looking like one of the best players in the country. Alabama has also won four games in a row over ranked SEC teams, which has made history. Because of that, Simpson has the country taking notice.

Ty Simpson and Alabama have been superb since their Week 1 loss
What Simpson is able to get done has been remarkable. Last weekend, the Tide took on Tennessee at home and plenty of people thought that maybe Alabama would suffer a loss to the Vols. That didn’t happen, with Alabama winning 37-20. It was a clear domination in Tuscaloosa in that game.
Simpson was strong as usual in that game, making clutch passes and throwing the ball all over the field. Through seven games this season, the veteran quarterback has thrown for 1,931 yards, 18 touchdowns and only one interception. He’s doing a great job of taking care of the football, which has been huge.
“I mean, in our building he’s not bringing it up,” DeBoer said of Simpson being in the Heisman conversation. “Our coaches aren’t bringing it up. Everyone knows, I think, that individual accolades come along when your team is successful, and especially when you’re the quarterback if you’re winning football games.”
Last offseason, it wasn’t even a lock that Simpson was going to start. He was in a three-man battle to be the starter with freshman Keelon Russell and Austin Mack. In the end, Simpson won the job and he has looked sensational ever since. It’s been fun to watch for a lot of people.
Yes, he and Alabama looked brutal in the Week 1 loss to Florida State, but everything has changed since then. Because of that, Alabama fans are hopeful that the Crimson Tide can reach the College Football Playoff this year. Could they go on to win it all?
