Arguably the best game of the weekend will go underway at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, when the South Carolina Gamecocks visit the Georgia Bulldogs, at 4:30 PM ET.
The Bulldogs lost against the Clemson Tigers 38-35 in a week one thriller. Their chances of fighting for the BCS championship are pretty much gone for them.
“It’s no fun to lose, and it’s no fun to lose early. With the type of schedule that we have, there’s a risk of that,” Coach Mark Richt said. “That’s football, and that’s the way it is. We’d prefer not to be sitting like we were a couple years ago after Boise State and South Carolina. We’re going to do our best not to be in that position, but the goal is to win the SEC Eastern Division.
Heisman Trophy candidate and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney made very little impact against the North Carolina Tar Heels in week one, and he was criticized by many.
“J.D. is ready to play,” coach Steve Spurrier said. “I think one thing he learned is that the camera is on him all the time now. It wasn’t on him last year, it was on him on the replays after he made sacks, big plays and stuff like that. He knows that and hopefully he is ready to go. Hopefully we can get him a little bit better prepared physically to go the distance against Georgia.”
Georgia can’t afford to lose another one. The SEC is too close of a conference for them to crawl back after a 0-2 start.
The college football odds have the Bulldogs as 3.5 favorites and the game total at 56.
