Arizona State won in a controversial/ crazy way last week, but they feel they can handle the 5th ranked Cardinal when they visit Stanford Stadium for week 4, this Saturday at 7 PM ET.
“We just beat the defending Big Ten champion,” Sun Devils Head coach Todd Graham said about the win32-20 over Wisconsin last week. “That’s the human element of the game, but at the end of the day, I’m proud of our guys how hard they played. They deserved to win, and I truly believe that.”
Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly moved the ball registering 352 yards, but he threw one interception and never found the end zone.ย He needs to do a lot better if they want to upset Stanford.
The Cardinal is 7 point favorite against their conference rival.ย The game total was set at 50 points.
“These games are the conference games and are the most important games,” Graham added. “At the end of the season, we are going to evaluate how many wins and how many losses you had and whether you won a (conference) championship. So signature wins and things like that I can tell you that our program is in a position to compete for a championship.”
Arizona State has lost in five of its last games they played at Palo Alto; their only win in that span came in 2007 when they surprised Stanford and beat them 41-3.
The Cardinal has beaten Army and San Jose State; they left doubts on both wins.ย Arizona State will be the first ranked team Stanford sees this season; in two weeks they will meet against Washington.
