With one loss in their resume, the Michigan State Spartans don’t have another option but to win out in order to be considered for one of the four playoffs spots, and their next challenge is a Big 10 rival, the undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers, this Saturday at Spartan Stadium, at 8 PM ET.
The Spartans are 3-1 straight up and against the spread; their only loss was against Oregon but the defeated The Ducks suffered during the week against Arizona really hurt their chances. Michigan knows it’s a must win situation for them.
“[I’m] really looking forward to the opportunity,” head coach Mark Dantonio said on Monday. “[We had a] great football game last year [with] a lot riding on the game. Really one of the reasons you probably come…[to] a place like Michigan State and play in a conference like this is to have these type of games.”
“This year he’s more experienced,” Dantonio said of Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong. “That’s his only loss that he’s had on him since he’s been a starting quarterback was last year. And I’m sure he wants some of those plays back.”
Nebraska is 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread, and they have won and covered the spread in five of the last six meetings against Michigan State.
For this matchup, the College Football betting odds listed the Spartans as favorites by seven points, and the game total is at 58 points.
