The superstar player who transferred from Washington State suffered a broken bone in his throwing hand and he’s going to miss around a month. John Mateer has been one of the best quarterbacks in College Football this season and him missing around a month is terrible news for Oklahoma and head football coach Brent Venables. With Mateer out, Michael Hawkins Jr. is going to be the new starting quarterback for Oklahoma, but he’s not at the same level. John Mateer Injury: Oklahoma quarterback will miss around a month with a broken bone
“After consulting with medical experts, it became clear that surgery is the best option for John and his short- and long-term future,” Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said in a release. “He’s extremely disappointed he will miss some game action but is eager to correct the issue and move forward. As he is with everything, we know he will be aggressive with his rehabilitation and work to return to the field as quickly as possible.”
