Will Lane Kiffin end up coaching the Rebels of Ole Miss next season? No one knows how things will shape out there, as Kiffin has been mentioned as a strong candidate for the Gators of Florida but also the Tigers of LSU. Analysts have assumed that Kiffin is going to leave the Rebels, but that’s up in the air. On that topic of conversation, the Lane Kiffin coaching drama gets worse for Ole Miss, LSU and Florida.
On Friday afternoon, director of athletics for Ole Miss Keith Carter said that a final decision on where Kiffin will coach in 2026 will come the day after the team’s last regular season game of the year. That game is known as the ‘Egg Bowl’ and it’s against Mississippi State. Is Kiffin going to end up staying or leave to join an SEC rival?
“Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for theEgg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game,” Carter said in a statement. “This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative that they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead.”
Lane Kiffin’s decision will be announced Saturday, Nov. 29, the day after the rivalry game between Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Lane Kiffin won’t make his final coaching decision until after the Egg Bowl
According to the best sports betting sites, Kiffin is the new favorite to take over as the new head coach for LSU. Previously, Tulane’s coach Jon Sumrall was the favorite, but now he has been given the best NCAAF betting odds to take over as LSU. For a lot of people in Louisiana, that’s amazing news.
No one knows if that will be what happens for the Ole Miss football coach. If Kiffin decides to stay, then both Florida and LSU are going to have to look at different options. With the way the coaching carousel has gone, there aren’t too many great options left.
James Franklin was the first major domino to fall, as he was fired by Penn State, but he was announced as the new head coach for Virginia Tech this week. Franklin has since hit the ground running in trying to land recruits for his new program. He’s got his eyes on a lot of Penn State commits, which is intriguing.
When it comes to Ole Miss, LSU and Florida, their fanbases are now waiting to see what Kiffin is going to end up doing. No one seems to have a good feeling on what direction he might be leaning towards. Some fans have called this a circus, but things will end next Saturday when an announcement is made.
