NCAAF Betting – Iowa State at (3) TCU

Iowa State Cyclones at (3) TCU Horned Frogs (-34, 69 o/u)

Without a Big 12 Championship game, the No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs are in a precarious position.  They currently occupy a playoff spot, but aren’t on top of the Big 12 and don’t have the chance to boost their resume against a top team this weekend.  All the Horned Frogs can do is beat the Iowa State Cyclones (convincingly) and then wait and see what No. 7 Baylor – the Big 12 leader – does against Kansas State.

TCU and Iowa State will clash this Saturday at 12 p.m. Eastern at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

TCU and Baylor both have one loss on the year.  But Baylor holds the tiebreaker thanks to a 61-58 shootout win over TCU earlier in the season.

The Horned Frogs are trying not to look ahead to the final rankings and, instead, stay focused on the task at hand.

“We’ve got to finish the journey,” coach Gary Patterson said Tuesday night. “I don’t know if there is a gap. I know we have one more game and have to finish this. … You’ve got to let your team speak, and that’s the only way you can do that, that’s on the field.”

If TCU can stay focused, Iowa State shouldn’t be a problem.  The Cyclones are 2-9 on the season and winless (0-8) in the Big 12.  They are already focused on next year.

“As I told you, [athletic director] Jamie [Pollard] and I have a great relationship,” coach Paul Rhoads said. “That doesn’t mean he’ll keep me if I keep losing. It’s not that kind of relationship. This is a business world. We all get that. My plan is to win in 2015.”

TCU is a 34-point favorite in the odds, and the total is at 69. Last weekend, TCU crushed a surging Texas Longhorns squad in Austin, which boosted the team past undefeated Florida State in the CFP rankings. TCU was only a 6.5-point favorite, but wound up thumping Texas 48-10.
