NCAAF Odds – (3) Auburn at (4) Ole Miss

If the College Football Playoffs started today, the Auburn Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SEC) and the Ole Miss Rebels (7-1, 4-1 SEC) would both be in. Unfortunately for both teams, there is still a lot of football to be played – including a monumental game against each other this Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi (7:30 p.m. Eastern).

(3) Auburn Tigers at (4) Ole Miss Rebels (-2, 50 o/u)

If the College Football Playoffs started today, the Auburn Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SEC) and the Ole Miss Rebels (7-1, 4-1 SEC) would both be in. Unfortunately for both teams, there is still a lot of football to be played – including a monumental game against each other this Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi (7:30 p.m. Eastern).

The Tigers bounced back from their lone loss – 38-23 at Mississippi State – by beating South Carolina 42-35; they were ranked third by the College Football Playoffs Selection Committee, largely based on wins over Kansas State and LSU.

“We’ve got to go there and we’ve got to play well to win,” Coach Gus Malzahn told the team’s official website. “That’s the only thing on our mind. We aren’t looking ahead to this and that. We are going to Ole Miss and we are trying to win the game.”

Ole Miss’ perfect season came to an end last weekend with a 10-7 loss at LSU; the Rebels remain the best scoring defense in the country, though, allowing a scant 10.5 points per game.

It was the offense that dropped the ball – so to speak – against LSU. Rebels QB Bo Wallace had a 91.2 passer rating, his worst this season, and Ole Miss recorded a season-low 313 yards of offense.

“Hopefully we can be more aggressive this week, but I’m going to run the plays that are called,” Wallace said. “That’s all I can do.”

Ole Miss is a two-point favorite and the total is at 50 points. The Rebels are just 3-6 ATS in their last nine home games against Auburn.
