The Indiana Hoosiers are probably thinking how they lost the number one seed in the nation to Gonzaga, but in order to have it back they need to beat Ohio Stat soundly, this Tuesday night at 9 PM ET at the Assembly Hall.
Indiana’s loss to Minnesota during last week cost them the number one spot, even if they were able to bounce back and beat the Iowa Hawkeyes during the weekend.
“I’ve watched a lot of games this year, and I’m telling you that nobody has the physicality used against him like Cody does,” coach Tom Crean said Cody Zeller, who played against his hometown Iowa. “And you never see him change his expression. We had to take him out of the game when the bleeding wouldn’t stop, and he didn’t change.”
“The thing that kept us going was our defense,” Zeller said. “We kept getting stops on the defensive end. We struggled at times on offense, but when you’re getting stops, you’re OK.”
Ohio State is not going to be an easy rival to Indiana; they have won three games in a row, including a 71-45 victory over that same Minnesota team that beat the Hoosiers. The Buckeyes beat Northwestern 63-53 on Saturday with Lenzelle Smith, Jr. scoring 24 points in the process.
“When me and Deshaun are both connecting on the offensive end I feel like we’re a very dangerous team,” Smith said. “Obviously we have the second option when I’m going and then we get other guys going.”
Indiana beat Ohio State 81-68 on February 10th; the Buckeyes look for payback.
