USC will try to close an irregular season with a win as they face Fresno State this Saturday December 21st at the Las Vegas Bowl, at 3:30 PM ET at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The Trojans will be under their third coach this season after athletic director Pat Haden decided to hire Steve Sarkisian, which was considered an insult by Ed Orgeron. Offensive coordinator Clay Helton will lead the team in the last game of the season.
“After the Coach O meeting, guys were freaking out,” said quarterback Cody Kessler. “It was unreal. I was really proud of the way (Sarkisian) handled that situation. The guys like me who know him well, we weren’t surprised how he immediately came in and helped guys start to get over it.”
Fresno State is 11-1 this season; their only loss came against San Jose State. Quarterback Derek Carr that ranks first in the nation in passing (409.8 yards per game) and gas thrown 48 TDs and 7 INTs.
“This is a big reason why I came back,” said Carr. “I wanted to win an outright championship. Sharing a title was great. As a competitor that wasn’t enough. We wanted to come back and finish this thing right.”
Fresno State is a 6.5 point favorite over USC in NCCAF odds; the game total is at 62.
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Southern Cal’s last 7 games, and in 5 of Fresno State’s last 7 games.
