With training camps just days away from starting, it’s hard to believe NFL fans are not already running numbers about how their team is going to end up at the end of the year, and whether they will make the playoffs or not. These are the chances for the NFC East teams:
Dallas Cowboys +250 to win the division: With the arrival of Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne, the Cowboys addressed a zone that was an issue for several years; their secondary coverage.
However, as you might now, the whole destiny of Dallas is on Tony Romo’s hands, and if he doesn’t make the necessary adjustments to deliver in crunch time, we are going to see the Cowboys as pretender one more year.
New York Giants +190 to win the division: the Giants’ big problem is their history and the way they’ve reacted when they’ve won the Super Bowl the year before. New York has never advanced to the playoffs the year after a Super Bowl win.
Philadelphia Eagles +130 to win the division: there is no reasonable explanation on why the Eagles stunk so much last season; the good news for them is that they actually found an impressive pace at the end of last year, and if they can carry that momentum into this season, they have the potential to be unstoppable.
One thing they need to do: keep Michael Vick healthy.
Washington Redskins +800 to win the division: The Skins have had one of the most discipline and good defense in the NFL in recent years, but they have failed to put on number offensively. With RGIII in DC, the Redskins hopes are going through the roof.
This might not be the year for Washington, but the future is already on their roster and that’s never a bad thing.
