Rams favored to strike first
Will Super Bowl 56 start with a Rams passing touchdown (+225)? Los Angeles is a 4.5-point favorite and have scored six of their eight postseason TDs through the air. A Cincinnati passing score is +290. Four of their five playoff TDs have been thrown by Joe Burrow, but a Bengals field goal (+425) is the stronger bet. Rookie Evan McPherson has connected on 12-of-12 field goals over the past three weeks.
A Rams defensive/special teams touchdown (+2500) or safety (+4000) make for excellent wagers given Cincinnati’s struggles in pass protection. As does a Bengals DEF tally (+3300) – while Matthew Stafford’s played smart football in the playoffs to this point, he threw four pick-sixes from Week 9 onwards.

Chase and Kupp offer explosive play potential
A 1-to-7 yard touchdown being the first score is even money at +100. Yawn… instead, opt for the 40-59 yard range at a juicy +1600. Cooper Kupp (9) and Ja’Marr Chase (8) had a combined 17 receptions over 40 yards this season, so Super Bowl 56 could easily open with a splash play.

Low or high scoring affair?
Oddsmakers have set the over-under at 48.5 points, expecting around 5 TDs (+375) or 6 TDs (+375) combined from both clubs. The highest-scoring Super Bowl of all time was SB XXIX, where the 49ers and Chargers racked up a combined ten touchdowns and 75 points in a 49-26 San Francisco victory.
Ten or more touchdowns is available at +1200, and would be incredible from an entertainment perspective, but that’s hard to envision from a defense captained by Aaron Donald and a Bengals D that shutdown Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes for an entire half of football. Bet the chalk at five or six TDs.

Money Mac strikes again?
You will have to lay some juice on the 47.5 over (-125) – but the aforementioned Evan “Money Mac” McPherson has already drilled three 50+ yard field goals in the playoffs and went 9-for-11 from that distance in the regular season. The Rams’ placekicker Matt Gay also connected on four-of-five 50 yarders this year.
Since both head coaches have confidence in their guys, neither Sean McVay or Zac Taylor will be worried about the bad field position that a missed kick would bring. Bet the over.
