Chiefs win Super Bowl 57 over Packers

Predicting Kansas City (+1000) to win Super Bowl 57 over the Packers admittedly seems a bit safe. That’s because every other NFL club comes with more question marks. How will the departure of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll impact the Bills (+600)? Will Brandon Staley’s bizarre in-game decisions continue to haunt Justin Herbert’s Chargers (+1100)? Can the offensive line of the Buccaneers (+900) protect a 45-year-old Tom Brady?

Meanwhile, it’s easy to have faith in Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid figuring it all out, even without speedster Tyreek Hill. Green Bay to win the NFC championship (+500) is a curious pick considering the state of Aaron Rodgers’ receiving corps, but the Packers have the running game and defense to get the job done in a weak conference.

Burrow named 2022 NFL MVP

Given everything stated above, our 2022 NFL MVP pick should probably be none other than Patrick Mahomes (+1000), but we’ll hedge our bets with Joe Burrow at +1200. No other quarterback in the league has two dynamic, and complementary, pass catching weapons like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The Bengals will repeat in the AFC North (+170) before falling in an AFC Championship Game rematch against KC.

Maxx Crosby wins DPOY

Micah Parsons (+800) and TJ Watt (+800) are worthy frontrunners for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. However, to overcompensate for the chalky start to this predictions column, we’re going to roll with Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby (+2000). While the 2019 fourth-round pick only registered a pedestrian 15 sacks over the past two campaigns, he led the NFL in hurries (77) and QB hits (20) in 2022. He also finished second in total pressures (108) with the highest pass rush win rate (26.8%) among all defenders with at least 100 attempts.

Doug Pederson for Coach of the Year

While his AFC south compatriot Frank Reich (+2000) will likely win the division, the bar is just too damn low for Doug Pederson (+1600). The Jaguars finished with the worst record in the league in each of the past two seasons and Urban Meyer almost single-handedly ruined a generational QB prospect. With the Titans in decline, Jacksonville could finish with an 8-9 record. That would be enough to capture Coach of the Year, as Pederson will get extra credit if Trevor Lawrence makes any kind of sophomore leap.

Lamar Jackson returns to form

Lamar Jackson (+1800) probably shouldn’t even be eligible for Comeback Player of the Year given that he only missed four games with an ankle injury last season. But if the 2019 NFL MVP returns to form and leads the Ravens into the postseason, football writers may reward him with their votes. Also, don’t sleep on JuJu Smith-Schuster (+2500), who goes from feeble-armed Big Ben to Patrick Mahomes.
