- San Francisco is a 1.5-point road favorite over the Denver Broncos in Week 3
- Former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is 17-4 all-time against the 49ers
- NBC’s Sunday Night Football kicks off from Mile High on September 25 at 8:30 pm ET
After suffering disappointing defeats in Week 1, both the 49ers and Broncos picked up their first victories of the season on Sunday. For San Francisco, it came with the loss of quarterback Trey Lance, who suffered a season-ending broken ankle in a 27-7 win over Seattle.
On Sunday night, Jimmy Garoppolo will once again be running Kyle Shanahan’s offense against a familiar opponent in Russell Wilson, who largely owned the Niners throughout his ten-year Seahawks career. Before we check the odds on the Week 3 game, here’s where you can find the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2022.

Broncos coach is a hack
Nathaniel Hackett might not be cut out for the big chair. In Week 1, the Broncos coach choked in the final minute of his team’s 17-16 loss to Seattle, settling for a 64-yard field goal attempt that sailed wide left. Then, on Sunday, his game management got so bad that fans in attendance started counting down the play clock in unison in the fourth quarter.
Denver escaped with a 16-9 victory over Houston, but the Russell Wilson era is off to an ugly start. The 33-year-old has only passed for two touchdowns in his first two starts, with one interception, leaving points on the board on multiple occasions.

The return of Jimmy G
While Trey Lance’s season-ending injury is certainly unfortunate for the young man, at least Kyle Shanahan can tell Jeff Gilloly and Shane Stant that he no longer requires their services. It’s no secret the 49ers coach pined for Mac Jones in the draft and struggled to design an offense for his raw sophomore quarterback. Now, thanks to Lance’s broken right ankle, Shanahan gets to call plays for a mediocre but reliable Jimmy Garoppolo.
The veteran signal-caller threw for 154 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score while subbing in on Sunday. This week, he’ll face a Broncos defense that shut down the Texans one week after permitting Geno Smith to pass for two TDs.
49ers defense versus Russ
San Francisco snapped a four-game losing streak against Seattle. Next, they must topple the man who tormented them in the NFC West for all those years. Russell Wilson has a 17-4 career record against the Niners, throwing 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The 49ers defense should be up for the task. Defensive end Nick Bosa dominated against the Seahawks, recording two sacks, five QB hits and two tackles for loss on Sunday.

To slow down San Fran’s edge rushers, Denver must get the run game going on Sunday Night Football. Sophomore back Javonte Williams has looked like a star early in the season, racking up over 200 total yards on 36 touches. Old man Melvin Gordon has also been good, averaging 4.7 yards per carry on 10 attempts versus Houston.
The Broncos’ plodding style and slow pace of play should lead to the UNDER (45) hitting in this one. It’s also hard to back Nathaniel Hackett in front of a home crowd that already hates him. We’ll take handsome Jimmy G to topple Russ in his first start of the season.
Final Score Prediction: San Francisco 23, Broncos 20
