Geoff JohnsonDenver Broncos Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller could be out of the first four games this season or violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy; he already appealed, but the case doesn’t seem to go his way.
The Broncos will host the Baltimore Ravens as 8.5 favorites in the NFL odds, but if Miller’s suspension goes through the line could move at least half a point. Miller is considered the second best player in the team, just behind Peyton Manning.
“He’s a different guy, but I never thought he would risk his career. Gotta help him bounce back now. Can’t turn my back on him. Disappointed yet concerned about the man. Still love him, though,” a Broncos player said anonymously.
Miller had previously tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana back in 2011, his rookie year in the league; source in Denver is saying Miller tested positive for weed and “molly”, a form of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) this time.
The Broncos will continue to be the favorites to be in the Super Bowl representing the AFC because they have Peyton Manning, but in a few months they lost their two primary pass rushers, Miller and Elvis Dummervil.
”I know I did nothing wrong. I’m sure this will be resolved fairly”, he tweeted.
The Broncos will report to training camp on Wednesday with huge expectations but also with plenty of off-the-field distractions.
Denver is currently listed 11/4 to win the AFC Championship, 2/9 to win the weak and pathetic AFC West and 11/2 to win the Super Bowl in New York.
