- BetOnline has the Chargers as 3-point home favorites over Las Vegas on Monday Night Football
- Justin Herbert threw four touchdowns in his MNF debut versus the Saints last season
- Derek Carr has led his Raiders to a 3-0 start with a league-leading 1,203 passing yards
Both Justin Herbert and Derek Carr are in the NFL MVP conversation heading into their Week 4 Monday Night Football under the lights of SoFi Stadium.
The Chargers are sitting at 2-1 after a 30-24 road win over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs last Sunday while the Raiders are one of only five unbeaten teams after three weeks of the NFL season.

Chargers vs Raiders
After setting a new rookie record for passing touchdowns (31) and passing yards per game (289.1) in 2020, Justin Herbert picked right up where he left off this season. He sits fourth in the league in passing yards (956) and last week he led his Chargers past Kansas City with four TD strikes.
Derek Carr’s early-season exploits have been even more impressive and surprising. The 30-year-old leads the league in passing yards (1,203), throwing six touchdowns to six different Raiders pass catchers.

Both defenses are better against the pass than the run, with the Chargers ranking dead-last in rushing yards (170) allowed per game. Luckily for Jon Gruden’s club, running back Josh Jacobs is set to return on Monday night as Brandon Staley’s defense has permitted only 201.7 yards per game through the air, picking off Mahomes twice in last Sunday’s victory.
Gus Bradley was fired after four seasons as the Chargers DC, but his Las Vegas defense is one of the pleasant surprises of the early season, ranking 14th in the NFL.
MNF Best Bets
Bet the UNDER on 51.5. Los Angeles’ games have not eclipsed the over/under yet in three games this season, and the 51.5-point total in this contest is over a field goal above the 47.3 average total in the Raiders’ first three games. While Carr has been lighting it up through the sky, throwing for more than 380 passing yards a game, Staley’s stingy pass defense will force Gruden to a more ground-based attack.
Primetime pressure? No problem for rookie QB Justin Herbert.

Chargers to cover 3-point spread. While Las Vegas’ victories versus the Ravens and Steelers seemed impressive at the time, Baltimore needed a record-setting field goal to defeat the Lions in Week 3 and Ben Roethlisberger has looked stiffer than a corpse in a pocket. Meanwhile, Los Angeles defeated the Chiefs last Sunday and held Dallas’ high-flying offense in check in Week 2.
Herbert threw four touchdowns, the most by a rookie in Monday Night Football history, versus the Saints in Week 5 of last season. We think he keeps it rolling with another strong MNF performance against his undefeated AFC West division rivals.
Final Score Prediction: Los Angeles 27, Raiders 20.
