- Davis Mills (+300) is a heavy favorite to lead the NFL in interceptions this year
- Justin Fields (+1200) and Trey Lance are set to throw a ton of picks in their sophomore seasons
- Baker Mayfield (+1400) and Carson Wentz (+2500) are ready to disappoint new fan bases in 2022
Quarterbacks must walk a fine line to pace the NFL in picks. They must simultaneously be good enough to be their team’s best option at the position while being bad enough to throw the ball up for grabs multiple times per game.
While it’s not shocking that Trevor Lawrence threw 17 interceptions in 2021, you may be surprised to learn the Jaguars rookie-tied Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford for the league lead.
Who will claim the ignominious title this year? Before we examine the board, here’s where you can find the top betting sites for NFL football in 2022 with the Best NFL Prop Bets to wager on this football season.
Most Interceptions Thrown
Davis Mills, Pick King?
Davis Mills (+300) became a heavy favorite to lead the NFL in interceptions when Zach Wilson suffered a torn meniscus in the preseason. With the Jets’ sophomore quarterback off the board, oddsmakers turned to Mills because the Stanford man projects to start all year with only Kyle Allen behind him in Houston.
The Texans starter tossed ten picks in 11 starts and two mop-up appearances in his rookie campaign. While his play was impressive, he has a new OC in Pep Hamilton, and defensive coordinators will know his tendencies after studying a year of game film.

Two more contenders
Justin Fields (+1200) was picked off ten times in ten starts last year. The Bears have the worst receiving talent in the entire NFL, and Fields should have season-long job security with Nathan Peterman slotted in as his backup. However, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is at heightened risk of injury due to his running ability and the state of Chicago’s offensive line.
Jameis Winston (+1400) was famously the founding member of the 30-30 club while with the Buccaneers in 2019. But if he’s careless with the ball in the Big Easy, the Saints will have no trouble turning to Andy Dalton.
Last year’s leaders
Matthew Stafford (+1400) has thrown more than 16 interceptions in five of his 13 years in the league and should be expected to keep airing it out in Sean McVay’s pass-heavy attack.
Trevor Lawrence (+1600) is widely expected to make a sophomore leap under quarterback whisperer Doug Pederson. But that doesn’t mean he’ll all of a sudden stop throwing picks in a pass-heavy offense.

Best Longshot Bets
With a sham of a quarterback competition going on in Carolina, Baker Mayfield (+1600) could play enough games for the Panthers to take this year’s I-N-T crown. The former Brown threw 21 picks in 2019.
Carson Wentz (+2500) and Drew Lock (+2500) are just a season removed from tying for the lead in interceptions (15) in 2020. The Commanders’ new starting QB would’ve been our choice if his backup Sam Howell hadn’t been as impressive this preseason.
Oddly enough, Trey Lance is currently not on the board at BetOnline, but he’s our best bet. The sophomore signal caller is reportedly throwing tons of picks at 49ers camp, and Kyle Shanahan will have no other option at QB once Jimmy Garoppolo is released in the coming weeks.
Best Bet: Trey Lance
