The 2025 National Football League season will begin in September. The Miami Dolphins team is in search of a big new season after playing so poorly last year. Head football coach Mike McDaniel will be counting on veteran players to look sharp. Running back De’Von Achane is one of the fastest players in the National Football League. Unfortunately for him, he’s dealing with a worrisome calf injury.
| NFL Week 1 odds | |||
| Colts to win | -110 | -110 | -110 |
| Dolphins to win | +125 | +125 | +125 |
| Over 48.5 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
| Under 48.5 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
The Miami Dolphins will take the field for the first time in the 2025 season on September 7th against the Indianapolis Colts. CBS reporter Marty Jaramillo is not confident that Achane will put on a helmet and play to open the new year. Instead, he’s reporting that not only could Achane miss that first game, but he might be out for the first three weeks. That would be terrible for Mike McDaniel.

“I do not expect him to be ready for Week 1. I actually fully expect him to miss possibly the first 3 weeks of the season.” pic.twitter.com/LQ7W8zgasm

De’Von Achane is dealing with a calf injury that could cost him three games
Achane has dealt with multiple injuries in his young career. For fantasy football owners, this news is quite concerning. Achane is considered one of the best running backs in the NFL and he’s also one of the top options for fantasy football users. He’s been taken in the first round of probably thousands of drafts in August in anticipation of the new season arriving.
If he does miss the first three games of the year, it’s going to be rough for Mike McDaniel and his team, while it’s also going to make people regret taking him in fantasy football. Calf injuries seem to linger quite a bit too, so this could end up being a long-term issue for him and something Miami has to worry about throughout the season. That’d be the worst-case scenario.
“We’re going to get back in town and better assess the timeframes between days and weeks, but not too long,” McDaniel said in a recent interview discussing Achane and Zach Sieler “Both of them we are going reassess when we get back to Miami, but I’m not concerned.”
According to the best sports betting sites, the Dolphins hold +125 NFL betting odds for the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts, the home team for this occasion, have been given -110 odds per the top NFL betting sites. Miami is the underdog and a loss would be a terrible start to the new National Football League season for them, especially after they disappointed last year.
Currently, the new injury update on Achane from Navarro makes it seem like there’s no way he’s going to be cleared to play against the Colts on the road in Indianapolis. This will only make their upset bid even more difficult. It’s unknown when Achane will play, but this injury is something plenty of people are going to be worried about for quite some time.
