- BetOnline has Green Bay as 5.5-point home favorites over the 49ers on Saturday
- The No. 1 seed Packers went 5-1 versus teams that made the playoffs, including a 30-28 Week 3 victory over San Francisco
- Aaron Rodgers has a 0-3 career record against the Niners in the postseason
Divisional-round playoff games don’t need any added drama to build hype and anticipation, however, the icy handshake between Kyle Shanahan and Matt LaFleur after the Packers’ 30-28 Week 3 win over the 49ers is certainly a juicy subplot heading into Saturday night.
The mentor and protege are 2-2 against each other all-time, but Shanahan scored a postseason victory over LaFleur in the 2019 NFC Championship.

|San Francisco 49ers||+5.5 (-108)||+195||Un 47.5 (-115)|

Another blowout beckons?
The No. 1 seed Packers are 8-0 at Lambeau Field this season and icy conditions (a high of 16 degrees and a low of 6) are expected in Wisconsin on Saturday evening. That would normally pose a problem for a team practicing under the California sun all week, but the underdog 49ers are built to run.
While Green Bay held the Niners to only 67 yards on 21 carries in Week 3, dynamic rookie Elijah Mitchell missed the game and Shanahan had yet to deploy multi-purpose weapon Deebo Samuel on the ground. Both could feast against a Joe Barry defense which ranks just 28th against the run in Football Outsiders’ DVOA.

Aaron Rodgers is expected to win his second-consecutive MVP after throwing for 4,000+ yards with 37 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Without a turnover since mid-November, the 38-year-old should have no problem connecting with his No. 1 target in this one.
Davante Adams has 48 catches for 618 yards and five touchdowns in five career games against San Francisco. Making matters worse is that the Niners’ spotty secondary ranked second-to-last against opposing WR1s with 88 yards per game allowed this season.
49ers to cover 5.5-point spread. Kyle Shanahan’s offense is No. 1 in the NFL on first and early downs, and the returns of cornerback Jaire Alexander and linebacker Za’Darius Smith won’t be enough to stop the Niners’ devastating run game. George Kittle could also be a game breaker given that GB ranks 28th in DVOA versus opposing tight ends.
In addition to being 7-3 on the road, San Francisco is 8-2 in its last 10 contests after Sunday’s 23-16 upset of the Cowboys. While it’s always tough to bank on Jimmy Garappolo, he is 7-0 in games without a turnover, and his sprained shoulder and injured thumb aren’t expected to hinder him too much this weekend.

Bet the UNDER on 47.5 points. As long as linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) and edge rusher Nick Bosa (concussion) suit up, the 49ers should be able to cap Green Bay’s production in cold weather. Getting left tackle David Bakhtiari back from injury is huge for Rodgers as he may have to lead another game-winning drive, as he did in Week 3, if the Niners pound the rock and limit turnovers.
Mason Crosby has been shaky all year – however, he did nail a 51-yard walk-off field goal when these clubs last met. If the 37-year-old veteran can deliver in the clutch again, Rodgers will claim his first-career playoff victory over the Niners.
Final Score Prediction: Green Bay 24, 49ers 23.
