- The Minnesota Vikings (4-1) are 3-point road favorites over the Miami Dolphins (3-2)
- Dalvin Cook rushed for 94 yards and two TDs on Sunday and faces a Fins defense that struggled to contain Breece Hall in Week 5
- The Week 6 game on FOX will kick off from Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, October 16 at 1pm ET
The Dolphins were off to a 3-0 start before concussion drama engulfed their season. Tua Tagovailoa suffered a scary incident in Week 4 and his replacement, Teddy Bridgewater, was pulled from Sunday’s game after taking a hard hit.
Following consecutive losses to the Bengals and Jets, Miami could be starting third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson against Minnesota on Sunday. Before we check the opening odds for the game, here’s where you can find the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2022.

Cousins sets a new record
The Vikings are 4-1 following a 29-22 victory over the Bears that saw Kirk Cousins complete his first 17 passes – a team record. Justin Jefferson made 12 receptions for 154 yards while Dalvin Cook ran for 94 yards and two touchdowns. It was the best showing for Kevin O’Connell’s offense since the team’s 23-7 opening weekend victory over Green Bay.
Minnesota should be able to move the ball against a Miami defense that permitted 40 points to the Jets in Week 5. Cook could be in for a particularly big day after rookie running back Breece Hall finished the day with 197 total yards with a touchdown.
Chris Perkins: Things are different now for Skylar Thompson, and the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback situation https://t.co/PbH0WafglE

Who’s Skylar Thompson?
After wowing in the preseason, seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson was thrust into action on Sunday following Bridgewater’s injury. The 25-year-old finished the game with a pedestrian stat line (19-of-33 passing, 166 yards, interception) but wasn’t shy about throwing the ball downfield.
Whether it’s Teddy or Skylar, the mission as always will be getting the ball to the Dolphins dynamic receivers. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle were kept in check for a combined 70 yards in Week 5.
Dolphins vs Vikings
A third-string QB could be making his first-career start on Sunday. So, expect Mike McDaniel to keep the ball on the ground against a middling Minnesota run defense allowing 120.4 yards per game. Raheem Mostert looks like the lead dog in Miami after rushing for 113 yards on 18 carries against New York in Week 5.
On the other side of the ball, Miami ranks among the league’s worst in passing defense. If star cornerback Xavien Howard misses another game with a groin injury, the Fins could be in trouble against Justin Jefferson and company.

Best Bet
The Dolphins are 3-point home underdogs on Sunday and the game total is at 45.5 points. While everything looks well set up for the visiting Vikings, don’t underestimate the hot and humid Florida weather playing a factor, like it did against Buffalo in Week 3.
If Mike McDaniel gets quality play from his quarterback, a home upset could be in order. Don’t forget that Miami has two quality wins over the Bills and Ravens, and stomped the Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 1.
Final Score Prediction: Miami 23, Vikings 20
