Jalen Hurts for MVP?
Jalen Hurts’ +300 odds to win MVP only trail Josh Allen’s (+125) after Week 8. The 24-year-old tossed four touchdown passes over 25 yards in a 35-13 win over the Steelers. Three of those were to his pal A.J. Brown, who finished with six receptions for 156 yards and three scores.
There’s no telling what damage the duo may inflict on the 1-5-1 Texans on Thursday. While Hurts ran for a season-low 10 yards on Sunday, he and running back Miles Sanders are set up to smash a Houston defense allowing a league-worst 186 rushing yards per game.

Texans are terrible
In Week 8, Houston allowed Derrick Henry to pile up 200 rushing yards against them for the fourth-straight time. In the 17-10 loss to Tennessee, the Texans generated just 161 yards of offense with 90 of them coming on the game’s final drive with Tennessee playing prevent defense.
Davis Mills could be in big trouble against an Eagles defense that’s second in sacks per game (3.3) and fourth in passing yards allowed per game (183.4).
Eagles vs Texans
Philadelphia is favored by 13.5 points over the visiting Texans and the point total is set at just 44. The over-under lines up with the respective teams’ outputs to date. Nick Sirianni’s club has scored the NFL’s third-most points per game (28.0) and Lovie Smith’s squad has tallied the fourth-least (16.6).
Averaging 77 rushing yards per contest, Dameon Pierce may find a few more holes on Thursday after the injury to Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis. The 13th overall choice in the 2022 draft was carted off with an ankle injury on Sunday. However, considering the team’s defensive line depth and the arrival of Robert Quinn from the Bears, sledding will still be tough for Houston’s rookie running back.

Best Bet
Oddsmakers can’t make this line high enough. At 13.5 points, it’s hard to find reasons why a bottom-dwelling Texans team will cover on the road. Look for Jalen Hurts to post video-game numbers on the air and via the ground and inch ever closer to Josh Allen in the season-long MVP race.
The Eagles will put on a show for their home fans at Lincoln Financial Field to move to 8-0 on the season.
Final Score Prediction: Philadelphia 38, Texans 9
