Eagles vs Cowboys: NFL Sunday Night Football Week 6 Picks

  • The Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) are 6-point home favorites over the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) in Week 6
  • Micah Parsons leads the NFL with six sacks and is the current favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year
  • NBC’s Sunday Night Football kicks off from Lincoln Financial Field on October 16 at 8:20pm ET

Last week, Mike McCarthy was shocked to learn his team was a 5.5-point dog to the Rams. “We’re underdogs? Well, good. Alright. Just wrote my Saturday night speech,” said the Cowboys head coach. “No, I’ll just say this — We’re nobody’s underdog.”

Even after stomping Los Angeles 22-10 in Week 5, Dallas is again listed as a big underdog against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. Before we check the odds on the NFC East rivalry game, here’s where you can find the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2022.

Can Jalen Hurts be stopped?

Jalen Hurts has averaged 8.6 yards per attempt (second among all quarterbacks) while passing for 1359 yards this season. However, the 24-year-old has done the majority of his damage with his legs, rushing for 266 yards and six touchdowns.

The Eagles scored a season-low 20 points in a Week 5 victory in Arizona. And now face a red-hot Dallas defense that has not allowed more than 19 points, or more more than a single touchdown, in either of their first five games.

Two top defenses

The Cowboys have 20 sacks this season, second only to the 49ers. Leading the league with six of his own, Micah Parsons has seen his Defensive Player of the Year odds shorten from +900 at the start of the campaign to about even money at most books today.

Philadelphia’s offensive line is considered one of the best in the NFL, so this is a strength on strength matchup. The Eagles’ defense has not been too shabby either, with 17 sacks, six interceptions and six forced fumbles. They’re actually allowing less yards per game (294.4) than Dan Quinn’s unit (311.4).

Eagles vs Cowboys

Philadelphia is a 6-point home favorite on Sunday. Given both teams’ nasty defenses, it’s not surprising the game has one of lowest point totals (42) of the Week 6 slate. Oddsmakers clearly don’t trust Cooper Rush despite his four-game win streak.

The practice squad hero passed for only 102 yards in Sunday’s 22-10 victory over the Rams while being sacked three times and fumbling twice (both recovered by Dallas). The Cowboys have scored more than 24 points just once under Rush, who still has not thrown an interception this season.

Best Bet

Dallas has three quality wins this season against the Rams, Bengals and 4-1 Giants, with their sole loss coming on opening night against Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, it could be argued that Philly’s only impressive victory was the 24-7 beatdown they gave Minnesota on Monday Night Football in Week 2.

Also, the Cowboys blew out the Eagles twice last season. While Philadelphia has clearly improved — with the additions of A.J. Brown, rookie defensive tackle Jordan Davis and cornerbacks James Bradberry and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson — they’re not six points better than Jerry’s boys.

Final Score Prediction: Philadelphia 20, Cowboys 16
