Geoff JohnsonThe Houston Texans are not comfortable with their running back situation for the 2013 season; the team informed that star Arian Foster suffers from back problems that could affect his performance during this year.
Foster and the Texans are 3 point favorites for week one against the San Diego Chargers in a Monday night matchup.
“He has some lower-back soreness that’s bothering him in his legs a little,” head coach Gary Kubiak said. “He’s had some injections to try and alleviate some of the soreness.
“The way I understand it right now, we’re trying to get through the injection process that it’s causing some discomfort, and it’s something that’s going to take some time for him to get through.”
Inside their camp, Kubiak says he’s optimistic to see him perform at the highest level, but experts are concerned this might just be a way to keep the noise down.
“I am because I watch him work … with (trainer) Geoff (Kaplan),” Kubiak said Monday. “Obviously there’s been a little setback as we try to get the soreness out of him. It’s not like he’s been standing around for the last three weeks.”
Houston is listed 12/1 to win Super Bowl XLVIII; only the Denver Broncos with Peyton Manning and the Patriots with Tom Brady have better chances in the AFC.
If Foster can’t go in week one, then it will be Ben Tate the one who gets most of the carries. Expect more info about this subject before placing a bet in week one. Arian is the best player the Texans have on offense.
